Welcome back to [community profile] scans_daily's 30 Days of Winter celebration! Sorry for dropping the ball yesterday, I guess it ended up being a lesser-known day (bum-duhm-CHING), but today we'll be discussing Street-level Heroes.

You all know them, the crimefighters, the detectives, the typically (though not always!) non-powered types. They usually do their heroing on a smaller, more personal scale, keeping an eye out for your everyday crimes, and sometimes things a little bigger than that.

My favorites?

Vic Sage and Renee Montoya, the first and second Questions, respectively. Cool masks, sharp suits, and unique perspectives, they seek answers both locally and on a more international level!
He's an insufferable snark, she's a determined grouch. They fight crime.

...And annoy each other. I actually can't tell if he's even wearing anything in that last panel.
Though other than 52 they didn't really work together, they do just fine separately too!
Scans are from 52, weeks 9, 12, 14 and 28.

So who are your favorite street-levelers?
And make sure to stay tuned tomorrow, when we'll be discussing Last Stands!
As always, you can find our full schedule here, so you won't miss a day! even when we do! /o\

Yep! But given how that's the Charlton/kinda-Watchmen Earth, he's gonna be more like Ditko's Vic with a bit of Rorschach mixed in than the Vic we knew.

Never say never in comics! Vic is still one of the most popular second-tier heroes from the DCAU, and he's made subsequent appearances on 'B:tBatB'. He's well-known to cartoon watchers by now - it's only a matter of time, I think, until they decide that he's popular enough to bring him back for real.

What I loved about these guys is how much time they spent around each other partially naked and are just buddies about it. Never have I seen that with any male-female partnership. There's always some form of flirting. With them, it's just... awesome, room-mateyness.

Too bad.

I do love this pairing, and it's also fun seeing C-listers who have powers but deal with low-level threats (like Ragman) get their due with fun dialogue and deeper characterization.

The "Marvel Knights" I love, too. Spider-Man, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, Punisher.

Low-level/Badass Normal masks are often the most fun to see go about their business, be it crime-fighting or dealing with relationships or haggling with their landlord/neighbors.

Bruce Wayne

2. Peter Parker, 3. Stephanie Brown, 4. Barbara Gordon, 5. Cassandra Cain, 6. Tim Drake, 7. Dick Grayson, 8. Renee Montoya, 9. Tom Tresser, 10. Oliver Queen

Selina Kyle and Jason Todd would be high on the list if they weren't naughty sometimes. Peter almost doesn't qualify, his extensive gallery of mega-powerful rogues makes it so he doesn't really have time for the average bank robber anymore...

Hooray! Who among us doesn't like to ask the Question? I fell in love with Vic back when he was in JLU and have just now been working my way through his various series. Such a great character. Though I'll always here him with the JLU voice, now.

Yeah, I guess I'll go with Vic. Bats isn't really very 'street' at this point in his career, and I can't think of anyone else.

"...And annoy each other. I actually can't tell if he's even wearing anything in that last panel."

Well, let's see:
1. He's sitting on what appears to be a bare hardwood floor, which will be cold.
2. The line they give Renee is 'He calls it "going inside".'

All signs point to naked.

Copy-paste from 2012:

"I remember when kingrockwell posted several Question issues, and promised some more we never got (involving Myra taking charge of Hub City and another one tackling racism). If he could find the time, I'd really appreciate that! :)"
