Li'l Thunder is cute! I like that Static is a little older than Terry. Once again, TBC's knowledge of DC is way beyond mine, I don't know the kid sinking into the ground. 75% on the Lightning test, much better than I did on my Aqua test.

The kid sinking into the ground is Thunder, Black Lightning's older daughter Anissa, former member of the Outsiders and able to increase her density to an exceptional extent.

Oops. Then Li'l Lightning is cute. I thought her name was Thunder from a JSA trade I bought wherein Star Girl and Cyclone go to the Pierce house to recruit Thunder. Stupid memory, be more accurate!

Don't worry, her name being Thunder was always a little contrived (Apparently it has to do with the sound she makes when she increases her density and then stamps the ground), as her powers have nothing much to do with the notion of "lightning" or "thunder".

The girls are Black Lightning's daughters. Static is unrelated except powers-wise.

Well that's what he gets for having the same colour scheme on his costume. If you've got the same powers as someone, you shouldn't wear the same colours if you don't want people to assume you're somehow connected.

Well, people know Batman and Robin are connected because they appear and fight crime together. That's different from Static's situration. But if you were in the DCU and saw a speedster wearing red with yellow lightning bolts, you'd figure the person in question is somehow connected to the Flash, right? You might be wrong, but it's not an unreasonable deduction.

Bats is really being a jerk here, isn't he? I mean, I know the 'BaS' Batman has always been a tad... grouchier than the usual one (which in itself is a scary thought), but seriously, what reason does he have to even ask Jesse something like that, let alone escalate things into a game of keep-away? It's none of his business, and I don't see any indication of what would give him that idea in any case. (Also, I don't get what's going on with the counting thing and Jesse somehow not being able to access her speed powers at the end.)

She's wearing her Jesse Quick uniform, not her Liberty Belle one. Which implies mom issues. She has this relationship where she's so much like her mom she gets in fights with her, you know?
The counting thing is Bats messing Jesse up in trying to calculate the speed equation that theoretically powers her speed force abilities.

Ah. Yes, that makes sense - I was thinking 'isn't she Liberty Belle now?' but I figured heroes change their costumes back and forth all the time, so it must have been something I missed.

It's not just saying it though, it's a mindset thing, you need to be thinking about what the numbers mean in relationship to you, the universe and the concept of speed. Or somesuch... it's certainly more than just remembering the words.

Sigh, I think you're overthinking things again old bean. This is a comedy strip, and the reciting of random numbers is simply an old gag to screw with people when they're trying to remember numbers (first time I saw it was in "After Hours" when Griffin Dunne is trying to remember someone's phone number).

Well, yes, there is that. It's sometimes difficult to remember that these things are not, in fact, part of regular continuity. (Anyway, it may be an old gag, but this is the first I've heard of it.)

I think Barry's attitude is inadvertently messing with Bat's mind, it's as if the brooding Batman can't fathom such selflessness. I mean, if someone had to die to save the universe, Barry would volunteer. If it was me and I was a speedster, I'd just run the other way (Eric O'Grady-style).

Yeah, it's a bit OTT, even for Batman, but as a dick-move, it's pretty much definitive.

It's the finger wiggle beforehand that somehow makes it less offensive (to me at any rate), he's doing this to show off and reassert himself as alpha-bat. The fact he grabs Rick's pills and Dr Mid-Nite's goggles highlight that (And in some ways taking the means a blind man has to see is even more bothersome.

If Alfred shames him into personally apologising to Jesse, Rick and Dr Mid-Nite in front of the other heroes for his inexcusable behaviour (Possibly basing the punishment on what Batman makes the boys' do when they make each others lives hell) then I think that might balance the scales a little.
