Assuming you are as big a fan as I am, you also screamed something both guttural and squeaky from the deep recesses of your throat and then promptly began sobbing and crying for joy while making sounds reminiscent of the Muppets' Beaker.

Or maybe it's just me.

The last page of Avengers: The Children's Crusade #4. HUGE HUGE HUGE SPOILERS. I'M WARNING YOU NOW, IT'S REALLY BIG.

But first, something from Avengers #5, posted a few months ago. Look at the entry after "Return of the King"

Ironlad (re)turns.

I am not getting my hopes up too much for now, because of the way it was written, but let us remove all doubts for a moment and simply bask in the joy of getting our favorite teen team leader back.

Heinberg, if you fake out now, I will rip something painful.

WTF KIND OF ENDING IS THIS? It makes me happy, and yet also enraged.

And the rest of the issue seemed a bit short. My sad face is imminent.

It's been really good. I held off on spoilers until I could read it this morning. WTF Billy and his power status? WTF?

Hey, Ironlad, how you doing? Have you met Kate and Tommy? No? Here they be. But still, I'm pretty interest to see what the dynamic will be now that Nate's back. If I remember correctly, Kate met him, but Tommy didn't. Also, with Nate being back, does Vision feel free to pursue Wanda like woah? Or...

Considering even Dr. Strange has had little success permanently removing the powers of second rate mystical henchmen, I wouldn't give Doom good odds of neutralizing someone who's supposed to have 1/6 of Mephisto's power and making it stick long-term.

I have to admit that I`m beginning to suspect that Heinberg is deliberately delaying the kiss because he now knows that fans want it so badly. Initially I was pretty certain that Heinberg was avoiding it because he didn`t know if Marvel would be okay with it (after all, he was initially surprised to even find out that they would let him have a gay couple), but if he`s allowed to put them sleeping in the same bed, albeit with clothing, I`m pretty sure the kiss is being delayed to build up anticipation.

That said, I might be overly optimistic.

Chris is an actor and he portrays Kurt as camp because the scripts tells him Kurt is camp. He had been nominated to Emmy AND GG for his portrayal, because he's just such a good actor.

Chris himself is a huge geeky fanboy, who loves Harry Potter, knows his way around sai swords and has a trunk full of not of tiaras but X-Men action figures. I'm pretty sure Billy is closer to him than Kurt.

There's a joke I had about this.

When Children's Crusade 2 was out and posted on SD, Billy transformed everyone there into Von Trapp clothes. Kate even pointed out who Eli was dressed as.

My internal conversation was this:

Me: So, then who's Billy dressed....DUH, he's Kurt. Because Billy Tivos Glee to watch it when Teddy's not around...

I'm pretty sure I actually posted a similar thought back in that post!
Furthermore, the character of Kurt was named Kurt because Chris played him in Sounds of Music and Ryan Murphy said he looked familiar.

I'd nix that just because Colfer doesn't look anything like I imagine Billy looking. Love him in Glee, but really not seeing him in an action type role. Or with flippy/wavy hair, which Billy must have if the world is to remain intact.

I'd love a young Jake Gyllenhaal to play him. Or maybe that David Henrie kid from Wizards of Waverly place, which I have actually seen once or twice to my eternal shame. If that guy became a somewhat better actor, he could pull of the action fanboy thing...

You know, it's really fun to see the YA in action again, and the plot has been really fast-paced and interesting, but I feel like Children's Crusade has the same problem that BG:Y1 has. That being... it's lovely to have a dumb jackass authority who's responding in the most idiotic possible way to rebel against and all, especially as a kid, but when you assign the role of dumb jackass authority who's responding in the most idiotic possible way to established, intelligent, white hat, friendly protagonists who the reader is supposed to actually like, and probably does like, in other titles... Well. You're not doing anyone any favors.

(Particularly since we've already seen the three primary agitators here deal with their Wanda issues to some degree in other titles and know where they should be with this.)

Really nice to see Wanda herself taking some initiative and being intelligent and heroic, though. As the powerless subject of a rescue mission, her portrayal could have been really gross and tiresome and instead Heinberg has her pretty much rescuing Billy.

It's true. Besides the obvious--tackling the past and Billy's interactions with Teddy and the entering of favorite characters, the A:CC I've been seeing is kind of awkward.

Still good, although the impression I'm getting from Wolverine is that he's Hellverine, but that can't be right in terms of timelines.

I`ve been really happy with the portrayal of Wanda so far. I think Heinberg mentioned in some issue that he was aware of the difficulties in portraying Wanda and that it`s very easy to get into sticky territory because she`s the one they`re all looking for, but that he wanted to still give her as much agency as possible.

It really shows she Doom and Billy are arguing and Wanda says that she`s right there and can speak for herself.

Clearly without the idea that she's just subbing for Eli? Because that's the general feeling around the YA

For real? No, I don't get that at all. Apart from Eli who seems to have a problem with them throwing their chips in with Mags (and I can sympathise with his unease, because if Mags decided to do a double cross, they might not be able to stop him), everyone else has been pretty accepting about it and her ideas so far.

In fact, it hasn't even been discussed much save the second issue, when Eli is all, "I mightn't be the leader of the team but, this is so a bad idea." and Kate is like, "Well, either fall in line or GTFO." and Eli is all, "Goddamn it... " and falls into line by saving Magneto from a wooden spike.

So again, really? (I love you like a play cousin, but no, boo).

I think it's more because Eli's not team leader only in Heinberg world, while the rest of the comics-verse seems to have this idea of Patriot being team leader.

Just the feel I get from other comics, I suppose ):

But in the other comics, Eli isn't even there. Like, for the I am an Avenger no 1. Everyone went to the Avenger's mansion and got the carpet rolled out except him because he was MIA. In Dark Reign he was the leader, yeah, as well as Civil War but that was over a year ago. Since then when the YA have been in the other comics, it's been everyone else except for Eli.

It just hasn't sunk in yet. Kate has only been team leader (really) since the beginning of A:CC.

I didn't say she wasn't, I just said she doesn't feel like it at all yet.

Wiccan sure likes saying names in logo form, doesn't he?

It's the only superpower he has left.

Given the way that Magneto and Quicksilver introduced themselves in issues one and two, I wonder if the affinity for saying names in logo form is a Magneto family trait.
