Hi guys, this is my first post and hopefully I understand how to put things behind a cut.


As some of you may be aware we've had some posts looking at Hugo Strange recently. He essentially is a psychological match for the Batman - both geniuses - but lacks the physicality.

*The important thing about "The Triumph of Hugo Strange" is that he renders Batman/Bruce Wayne homeless and takes all his possessions for himself. In "Batman: RIP" Doctor Simon Hurt (Simon says "Hurt") injects Batman with Crack Cocaine and Heroin and throws hims out into the gutters. Later in "Return of Bruce Wayne" Hurt pretends to be Thomas Wayne (technically this is a half lie - his real name is Thomas Wayne, aside from that they have nothing in common). Clearly Hurt is a ripoff of Strange.

And the reason for my first posting? I notice none of you had brought this up:
Gentlemen, without further adeu I bring you - Arkham City!



Notice in the trailer Hugo is wearing an almost identical outfit to Dr. Simon Hurt. Clearly the game makers agree that Hurt is ripoff/takeoff of Strange.

Well, in his modern incarnation. In his pre-crisis version, he was huge and physically dangerous as well.

True. There is a difference between being BIG and being skilled. Pre-Crisis Hugo was the brain of Vizzini and the body of Fezzik, where Batman is the brain of Westley and the body of Inigo.

Now I'm just imagining Strange or Hurt confronting Batwoman, Batgirl, or Dick (as Batman) with the following.

"You wear the trappings of the Batman, you fight like the Batman. But this can be imitated, however. You lack a vital quality found in Batman. Batman has no fear. And I sense much fear in you."

...I think that Hurt is more affiliated with the Bat-Man costume that Thomas Wayne (Bruce's father) wore. Since he was delibreately wearing it to soil Thomas' name/play mind games with Bruce. You can't really call a doctor's lab coat a trademark costume.

Not to mention that saying Hurt is a rip-off of Strange is a reach freakin' big reach. There might be a few overlapping elements in their M.O.'s, but saying the gamemakers say that Hurt is a rip-off is hilarious.

Can't wait for the game, tho.
