Batman has become more of a "myth" in Gotham as the criminal underworld has dissipated. Gotham is safer with arrests 30% down so The Dark Knight keeps a very low profile. Batman also has a new aerial vehicle, "The Wraith". A modified military prototype aircraft/drone with a 40 foot wing span. The Batmobile is now equipped with an E.M.P device.


I love love LOVED the design of the Batwing from the 1998 movie and how it was incorporated into the DCAU. The Batman aerial vehicles in the comics since then have been disappointing. A modified military hunter/drone sounds more plausible for flying around the city canyons than a huge jet.

Well, Catwoman just might not work in Nolan's world. Ra's Al Ghul, Scarecrow, the Joker and Two-Face can be changed to fit into Nolan's world. Ra's became a psycho Puritan, Scarecrow was a hired gun, the Joker was more of a mad bomber anarchist than a serial killer, and Two-Face was almost *too* sympathetic before kidnapping Gordon's family.

Catwoman might just not fit in any way in Nolan's world. Perhaps this is why he didn't want to use the Riddler.

How wouldn't she work?
She has one of the most simple origin stories (if you don't count the complicated ones). Cat burglar with the hots for/inspired by Batman? Not too hard to see in Nolan!Batman, she doesn't have to be cartoonish like the first one, mad hooker like Miller's or a WEIRD AU like the Berry movie.

Actually she could be a great polar opposite for Bale!Batman as a not so well funded version of himself. I really liked the idea, after the first movie, of there being a female Two Face in Rachel Dawes. They are in sore need of a female character who isn't a 'civilian'.

You really think that a cat burglar would fit with the themes in Nolan's series?

I prefer Talia to Selina for the Nolan verse, mainly because it concludes the plot from the first movie, and because businesswoman/daughter of villain from 1st movie/kinda crazy schtick works a lot better than cat burglar.

I also hve to concur. Talia makes sense.

Ra's Al Ghul would need a face for all the companies that help finance the League of Assassins, and Talia would be perfect. I could see her rebuilding the order of assassins after her father, using what few assets that are left of the League and taking down the league's biggest threat.

Seeing as Nolan's Gotham is shown to have a very rich upper class and a poorer class living right under them it's not that far a leap to think someone might steal from them in revenge or some version of justice instead of just being beaten up by crooked cops or mob thugs or sit quietly in The Narrows with masked individuals throwing brain damaging drugs and bombs around the city. The big 'consequences' theme going through the second one, that masked avenging causes masked criminals, I can't see how she couldn't fit.

Unless you mean that a poor version of her, a burglar, could be seen to be not in line with Nolan's Batman themes, the Joker being the only 'bad guy' with no money. Although he doesn't seem to care at all about money at all. Or that as a female character, she's not going to have much more than an inspirational disgust or death? I don't think I'd like to see that happen either.

Maybe we could have both Selina and Talia. :D

I meant more that with the "brain damaging drugs and bombs", and the general huge scale of things going on in Gotham, some masked person stealing jewels is kind of a major step down, plot-wise.
