Fanservice, meaning, homoeroticizing.

One page from the preview Birds of Prey #8 in CBR.

Most people (like me) would find this a bit creepy. Most people (like me again) also wouldn't ignore the three to four suggestive lines in this one page alone.

Scans daily, it's your fault.

The art certainly doesn't help any- that second panel alone looks like the Veil Lady is simultaneously stroking Helena's cheek while getting in a side-grope.

Yucky art
*sigh* Why can't BoP get a decent artist? Especially one that isn't a shitty cheesecake artist?
Why Nicola Scott, WHY did you have to go onto Teen Titans!?

I love Gail and the Birds but this new series has been rather disappointing so far. The stories are disjointed and don't flow and the artwork is awful.

If this book doesn't pick up soon I'm dropping it.

So, what, she's Diana without a conscience?

Also let me join the "the art" chorus. Saiz can't start soon enough.

Dear Miss Simone,

While I am aware that you probably do not read this community anymore, the interwebs are a mysterious place and perhaps you will hear of this eventually.

I would like to respectfully suggest that you grab Nicola Scott, even if this involves an elaborate method using a cardboard box, a stick, a length of string, and a box of chocolates, and go over to Avatar. Just tell them who you are, who you've got with you, and ask to write a superhero book with no content restrictions whatsoever, for as long as you want. They will probably leap at this chance.

The book could be a delightful romp through an international superhero universe, starring a blonde superheroine who spends half her time kicking ass and half her time being some kind of world-spanning lesbian beacon, adjusting preferences and drawing eyes across half the known world, but of course remaining utterly faithful to her differently-abled redhead companion, who smiles every time someone hits on her beloved and then proceeds to slash that bitch's credit rating like Jason on speed.

Seriously, every time I read Birds of Prey now, it's like you're trying to write that book but the editor is just barely managing to prevent you from doing so. If Dinah gets one more lesbian stalker, she gets a free set of steak knives. It is getting weird.

This is not to say it's a bad book. In fact, it's pretty decent overall. I just think you could benefit from a less restrictive platform.

XXOO,
Another Internet Fan

Jesus Saiz is going to be doing the art starting issue #11, I think.

So who's the veiled lady who looks like she's about to dance the fandango in high heels?

I like the fact that Dinah is the only one free of Bravado.

She doesn't strike me as afraid of regret, though. Just, indifferent to it.

I dunno, she is the only survivor of the Blackhawks. Maybe she regrets leaving them (as far as I know, it was involuntary, kind of like Captain America's deal, but still).

Okay, probably gonna get a lot of flak for this, but I really prefer Ed Benes's art to anything I've seen so far in the current BoP run *steels self*

I enjoyed Ed Benes' stuff too. I cant process this artwork though, no sir.

I also agree with the sentiment that the current run seems to be a bit disjointed and difficult to follow, its hard work atm.

I concur, that would indeed be something. Could a misfit troupe of scoundrels and ne'er do wells with a pesky habit for altrusim also make an appearance pls?

That is one bad outfit.

Would a hero who does a lot of soul-searching be more or less susceptible to a villain like this?

A million points to angel_negra for saying "Why do all the characters like me have to die just so the straight people can feel bad?"

Spoilers in the latter half of the rant.

For a more positive view, gothamspoilers on Tumblr does very thorough write-ups on the Batbooks, BoP included.

I don't read the BOP posts because I don't want things spoiled, usually (I couldn't resist this one for some reason). But I'm glad you told me he lives, this way I don't have to be all bitter until I get around to reading the happy ending.
