I think, though, that part of the problem with citing Comic Book Jail as a reason for a zero-tolerance policy on killing supervillains is that it's not so much a reason for enabling superheroes to kill as it is a reason to make some better fucking jails in the DC Universe. I mean, we don't summarily execute criminals in the real world just because there's a chance they'll break out of jail, and it's not really fair to blame Batman for the fact that the guards at Arkham Asylum apparently couldn't guard their own arses with both hands (depending on the writer, of course).
