Fantastic Four 587

There's room for more than one member of the family to take the stage in this issue. Four pages under the cut.

Ten-cent recap: Namor set up the treaty-meeting as an excuse to kill the other Atlanteans because of an oral tradition passed down in the royal family that indicated they were going to try to take over everything, and use Susan as a sacrifice.

I will love Sue's expression there for all my days.

(In observance of my icon) I shall call this incident... "When an Undersea Ruler was Laid Low By That Which He Cannot Have!"
Outrageous!

Truly, truly outrageous!

As someone who hates the idea of Sue/Namor - that was quite enjoyable. Brava, Hickman!

I love that little eyeroll at the end.

"You are magnificent."

"Oh criminy here he goes."

I loved that eyeroll too. You get the impression that Sue knows Namor far, far too well by this point.

...This is one of the few times a comic feels like it was written by a member or members of s_d.

As I said elsewhere, Hickman is one of the five writers who I truly believe understands the machinery comics as a story form and a world, as a writer and as a fan, as parts and as a whole, so your description of him writing as a member of SD is, in my opinion, quite a good one.

You can just see her weighing the value of just letting someone skewer him and getting it over with.

"The Adventure Where Susan Storm Became The Invisible Lantern!"

She is sooo...nnmf. You know, I could list off half a dozen DC heroines I find hot, but when it comes to Marvel, I can only list off the heroines I either don't care about at all or who transcend hot unto a place where my awe of their coolness destroys any sexual lust I may potentially feel for them.

Have to admit, did not see that coming.

if this is a political ploy of these ancient Atlanteans to divide and conquer their opposition, it's a good one.

And oh yeah, Doom is gonna love this turn of events.

Also, does this make Reed her consort?

Besides Spidey decking Norman at the end of Siege, this was one almighty *SMACK* I feel has been a long time coming.

Susan is the most powerful of the Four, and she's been putting up with Namor's crap for so long. She tolerates Reed and his flaws because deep down, he's a good man and she loves him. She tolerates Namor becauses he's royalty he's pretty he invites her "under the sea" when Reed's inattentive... well, she finally decided not to put up with it anymore.

And THIS, ladies and gentlemen, is why Sue is the most powerful member of the Fantastic Four. She just decked someone who's gone toe-to-toe with The Hulk.

I must say, I really don't like the implication that Namor was going to punch Sue.

He is a jerkass, sure, but he would never hit Sue.

Somethign I find amusing with Sue's power is that all that armor and spikes are invisible to anyone but us readers. Sure it can be felt but she can make any shape she'd be amused by in the given situation and no one would know. I'm amazed she doesn't walk around all day making invisible clowns or naughty naked force statues. When she punches people she could be hitting them with penises for all they know.

Anyway that eye roll is truly magnificent.
