2 more from Action Comics as Luthor has a genuine talk without posturing with the Joker.

There were a lot of moments to choose from, but I will post the two most relevant to Luthor's quest.

And forgive me if I go on a tangent.

I must confess, I was genuinely surprised. Enough to spend money on it.

I will add the most relevant page, and a scans_daily have-fun-with-it-page.

Let's start off with the fun.

Those big upside down beverage containers? They have objects underneath.

go back to the issue with Death of the Endless, and read. It's right there in front of you.
That sexual fantasy Luthor was telling Death but we the audience couldn't see?

yup.
Yup.

Once again, Luthor did what a lot of people do. Underestimate the Joker.
(Lord knows I did).

At least Joker got a laugh out of it. There he is. The Clown Prince of Crime. The Harlequinn of Hate. The Joker.

Joker reveals what is under container-#2, the black sphere that Luthor has come to claim. Lab tech guy wants to get a sample and such an action triggers a rage in the Joker that menacingly calms down. Luthor offers a trade: information for freedom.

And then we get a genuine "moment" with the Joker. I wish I could post it, but I am at my limit.

It's not a prison of steel and mortar and electronics that trap the Joker. Joker is a prisoner of his own mind, his philosophy and awareness, and role in the universe. And he knows it. The man inside the living incarnation of chaos wants out. Like Loki in Marvel this incarnation of The Joker is aware he is as much a puppet on the strings being forced to dance his merry wake of destruction and madness, and is aware of the tragedy that befell him and he has unleashed onto the world.

And by all that is holy I swear he "knows". He knows he is a comic book character.

Joker explains a little about himself and how he is a living archtype, and that like attracts like. On one of these visits a black sphere manifest itself. If these black spheres have truly been in the DC universe for hundreds of years and these and other "things" visit the Joker, then this might explain (by comics logic) how the fuck Joker knows what he knows for so long. Abstract truths that a mere crime-lord should and could not know about the invisible world.

But the Joker brings back the story to Lex Luthor and his crew, explaining that the black spheres have different abilities due to the needs and nature of the people around them.

For Joker to use the black sphere as less a keyhole to gether intel from and an escape, he needs energy sent into it. Zap, the black sphere grows larger, and the mortals in the room begin to feel it's effects. Joker makes his exit finally through the sphere, only to snap right back from shock of what he has learned.

What ever it was he saw, it scared him sane and kept him in his cell.

Then we get a bit of backstabbing, and a Dr. Who joke, and Luthor leaves with is prize. The Joker has the last laugh, as once again knows something Luthor doesn't know.
And we get a preview of the next issue, and Luthor searches for Larfleeze, who has moved to Vegas.

I'm already behind on watching Wakfu, and Homestar Runner, and Sym-Bionic Titan, I don't want to have to watch My Little Pony as well to figure out what the rest of the internet is talking about.
