Wow!

Cosmic Book News has the rather explicit preview up to Image Comics' "Hack Slash #1." I suppose it's nothing worse than a string bikini? lol.

I might have to check this out.

One pic after the cut - and its a good one!

At least boobs work that way even if bubbles don't.

I can't wait for this series.

It's always feels so incongruent that this comic series seems to be both fantastically well-written and also unrepentantly exploitive in regards to Cassie's sexuality. I mean, I get that on a conceptual level, it's partly a homage to the horror genre's embrace of T&A, but it feels like it's trying to draw in two completely polar audiences at the same time.

Wait, why is this #1? They've already had like three omnibuses worth of books.

One of the creators addressed the overabundance of cheesecake by saying something along the lines of "hey, it's not like you buy it for the stories." Thing is, I do buy it for the stories and it makes it weird when I have to ignore some of the art to enjoy them.

Whatever, Hack/Slash is cool.

That weird shiny effect always creeps me out. Human skin, even covered with water, just does not look like that.

Because it's the first issue of the ongoing series to be published by Image.

Considering that Cassie is based on the girl Seeley was too shy to ask out, a certain amount of sexualization shouldn't be too surprising.

The positioning is all wrong here. How can those be her legs? If they were, the tub would be about three inches deep. But that can't be right since the magnifying glass girl appears to be standing. What the devil is going on?!

No. Look, that one leg at the front of the image? It isn't even attached to the dark haired girl's hip. She's just stabbed and dismembered someone in the bath, that's their leg floating about and she's sitting on their torso.

Although I suppose it could be magnifying girl's leg.

At least boobs work that way even if bubbles don't.

Wait, how do they work that way? Last time I checked, they don't defy gravity and aren't made of plastic (at least, not the skin...)

Are we looking at the same boobs? Sure they are a bit cartoony but they seem to be sagging normally.

I see boobs like that every time I look down in the shower.

There is no conceivable way her leg could be attached to her hip, there. The line of her body is like six inches in front of the line of her leg. That can't be her leg.

I mean I don't particularly mind cheesecake but it has to not look dismembered.

No no theres a foot - part of one anyways on that front leg so it can't be the blonde's leg.

But none of the legs look like they are attached to the dark haired girls hips. Still have no idea where the bottom half of the blonde girl disappeared to.

You'd think that if one was going to draw cheesecake they'd at least bother to get the anatomy vaguely believable.

How does this even...

I'm trying to figure out this anatomy. Besides the before mentioned leg mystery I mean. What is going on with her arm? its like concave over by her shoulder blade.

Also the artist couldn't be bothered to finish coloring the lines, he missed the hand holding the magnifying glass.

Wouldn't they sag more if they were, what, C cups? How are they staying that perky? It's as if they're wearing non-push-up, but invisible, bras with a little support. Also, the bubbles aren't covering where they need to cover, at least, not on the girl on the left, should be more centered.

Maybe an anatomy major or artist could better articulate what I'm trying to say here...

Depends on the "boob." There's more to the sag/perkiness of breasts than just size, and there are PLENTY of breasts that, while probably not behaving in QUITE that fashion (it is a cartoon, after all), are certainly "close enough."

[Edit Added]

Ok, to be fair, I can sort of see what you mean about the implied location of the nipples of the one on the left, I think. I think I was focusing a little more on the girl on the right...

I think it's trying to appeal to people who can enjoy both stories with solid character development and pathos AND exploitative horror. Kind-of a niche audience, I'd imagine, but hey, indie comics can do that.

Define a "certain amount" in relation to Hack/Slash.

Would that happen to be in the range of every single comic book cover? XD

Maybe the tub is wider than we think, due to foreshortening, and there's a third person behind Cassie who's laying on one side, propped up on an elbow, sort of fitting herself between the other two and the side of the tub? And the tub slants down, so it's very shallow on the far right end and that girl's head is still above water, while it's very deep on the far left end, allowing room for the blonde to be kneeling.

:/

I think what's supposed to be going on here is that the dark-haired chick is sitting on a bench/seat molded into the jacuzzi tub; blonde chick is kneeling in the deeper part of the tub: and a third, possibly dead, girl's legs are spread around the dark-haired chick, since there's only a faint explanation for how the far one could be attached to her and no way in hell for the nearer one.

This does not explain WTF happened to the dark-haired girl's spine/shoulder blades there, or where blondie's other boob went. Masectomy?

As a bisexual, I was already thinking "Why don't I get to see stuff like this with hot men?" and "Wait, would that weird knife pose be any less creepy if a guy was holding it? And wait, the whole microscope thing - always bad in a guy scene, how does that work in a girl scene?" Sex is weird, yo.

But I'd rather have one with better anatomy and either non-shiny coloring or bath oil instead of bubbles to justify it.

I'm gonna hope she didn't plan on taking a bath, because that cheap kitchen knife of hers with the wooden handle is totally gonna rust if she keeps this up.

Still, sensible Goth action chicks know the value of waterproof makeup.
