If it took them an entire issue to get to the "He's dead Jim" moment, then I don't for a moment believe he's remotely "really" dead. They're just milking it waaay too much.

With that much alien tech infused into him, probably with weekly backups of his brain being taken, he'll be back.

I bet it's not even Jaime in the first place. For one thing Max is a telepath and for another OMAC's are very similar to Jaime's scarab.

I like to imagine, until their inevitable return, Jaime Reyes and Johnny Storm are in limbo and have formed The J&J Detective Agency, where they solve crimes as Fireboy and The Dentist.
