Given that being bonded with Etrigan is what kept Blood alive all these years, does this mean he's going to die?

I can imagine either A) Blood being quite happy about that since he's always been rather a miserable sod or B) He has learned other magics in the meantime to keep him going.

On the other hand, if you actually asked Etrigan about it, I'm sure he'd tell you that the politics of Hell are complex fare, with subtleties that guide his fall or rise. The rhyming is a sign of status there; it changes with his rank. (Where's my No-Prize?)

He's like Saint Walker. Giving cryptic-but-uplifting advice is his thing. He has all those awesome massive superpowers, but he likes to encourage everyone else to save the day for themselves instead of getting them too dependent on deus ex machina (though he's not averse to deus-ex-machina-ing the hell out of a reaaaaally bad situation).

I got the impression that his actions, either by direct action, inaction or a gentle prod in the right direction, were all intended to help the world in the long term, even if by his involvement the system of events aren't exactly nice.

Like what happened when he appeared in London in 1888 in Madame Xanadu, for example.
