If I remember correctly Jimmy threatened Nickelodeon with a lawsuit if they included the word Avatar in the title of the Last Airbender, so if it IS the case this might be a legal carryover.

Even though the Avatar section of the Nick website is still called as such.

Might just be hedging their bets? A:TLA is established, but Korra is new, so they maybe just don't want to push their luck in case anything changes down the line.
