Date: 2011-03-21 11:47 am (UTC)Having Booster insist it's absurd to read a pair of friends as romantically involved just because they're at ease with one another is a true, valid, strong point (as is the underlying observation, that it's homophobia - fear of being labelled as gay, which comes from a disparaging view of gay people - that prompts people to overreact and brand that kind of friendship "gay" in some kind of twisted effort to be seen as not-gay themselves). But then, when you have him also admit that the two of them kinda get off on making out with each other? (So, even though it's absurd to say that all close male friendships have an erotic dimension... this one may be kinda/sorta does?) That made it nice and complex and cute and also hot and funny. So... worked for me.
