Gonna start you off with an older one, since I've been really busy recently, but I like to post these in threes.

I actually have no problem with Emma Frost. I like her a lot as a character. My problem is with writers forgetting all the crap Emma put Storm through when she was a villain. There was an issue a while back of Uncanny X-men, I think, in which Ororo gives Emma relationship advice. Given their history, it seemed like a pretty weird thing to do. It smacks of putting Emma in the place of Jean, which has been being done a bit more than I'd like and is kinda disrespectful towards both characters. There are people Jean was close to that Emma is not.

And since we're dealing with things that bother me personally...

This is something that has irked me for a while and I'll admit to using Booster as a mouthpiece here. There's nothing wrong with guys being physical in a platonic way. It's sad that we live in a society that's so homophobic that the simple act of guys holding hands is noteworthy. Seriously. Everyone should have the right to be physical.

Titans is getting even worse. I mean, the last issue was just so, so, UGH. Why do they hate the Marvel family? Why?

Isis is vaguely evil again, Amon is both useless and sad, and Billy and Mary can't do anything. For a few years now, we just get the same story, over and over again.

So, yep. My toss in the thursday hat. Hope you enjoyed them and if not, well, sorry guys.

Sorry, the complaint that something men do is being over sexualised just because they're men (!) is giving me the giggles.

Also, this idea that male relationships can never just be platonic any more... Well, maybe it seems that way because yes, pretty much every male/male relationship *is* shipped - just like every male/female relationship is, and just like every female/female relationship.

But it's important to remember that just because someone ships one male/male relationship, it doesn't follow that they ship all male/male relationships. Someone might read Tim/Kon as shippy, and Ted/Booster as entirely platonic, just as someone can ship Babs/Dinah and see Fire and Ice as friends. So what if some fans read Ted and Booster's relationship as queer; how on earth does that mean that they're questioning the legitimacy of all platonic male friendships?

I wonder why no one ever rolls their eyes at the hot girl pairings and asks why women aren't "allowed" to be just friends anymore? Why, it's almost as if people think it's massively more important to "respect" the canon sexual identity of male characters or something...

This was born out of my frustration with real life guys acting like immature idiots because of accidentally brushing hands with each other and stuff. I just choose probably the worst way to vent this frustration.

Ok, I understand now, although I think the comic itself communicates a very different kind of frustration than you intended.

But I see that someone else has already made very similar remarks up-thread, so I'll drop it.

I can sympathize with this. As a high schooler, it seemed at one point that every other statement I heard on the bus would be one guy saying "no homo" or "so gay" to one another. It's become more toned down ever since I blew up a bit at them over how much they were saying it, but considering that we were all part of an academically advanced program and were supposed to be the brightest of our age group, it was kinda disheartening at times.

For the comic itself, I guess it would have come across better if tone wasn't "This is what it isn't: gay," and more "Yes we're touching, so what?"

Overall, I've loved your comics and these were no different you've got an excellent sense of humor and satire.

I thought the punchline in your comic did a really neat job of making your point multidimensional and ambiguous and accommodating, for what it's worth.

Having Booster insist it's absurd to read a pair of friends as romantically involved just because they're at ease with one another is a true, valid, strong point (as is the underlying observation, that it's homophobia - fear of being labelled as gay, which comes from a disparaging view of gay people - that prompts people to overreact and brand that kind of friendship "gay" in some kind of twisted effort to be seen as not-gay themselves). But then, when you have him also admit that the two of them kinda get off on making out with each other? (So, even though it's absurd to say that all close male friendships have an erotic dimension... this one may be kinda/sorta does?) That made it nice and complex and cute and also hot and funny. So... worked for me.
