This is all kinds of hilarious. And it's good to know that Superman can hold the atmosphere of an entire planet in his lungs.

Okay, so the black guy is pissed that the white guy is making him do all the work, and Batman tells him to sit down and shut up. Okaaaayyyyyy...

I couldn't help but think that Batman was hitting on lonely Midge with that "solemn duty to start anew" line.

He BLEW UP LIKE A BALLOON.

One thing I do like about Bronze Age Superman is the whole pulled-out-of-ass quality to every page. There's...an energy to it.

Wow, that's terrible, although I don't know whether to laugh or cry. At least we all know Superman actually has the superpower to inflate enough to hold the earth's atmosphere. XD

Veeeery convenient that Batman and Superman decide that there's no reason to reveal their true identities.

Except, as far as they were concerned, they were the last living people.

Unless . . . they knew the truth all along and were just toying with the other people. Which I would totally believe.

*twitches*

Sorry, just can't help myself. I think that should be Destroyed, unless that's a reference to how they have it in the comic.

I have no idea what I just read.

Ah.

That explains it.

Carry on, gentlemen (and lady).

The bit about having been on the Satellite makes me think of something...

Why didn't Superman fly back to check on the Satellite, to see if, you know, any of the League DID, in fact, manage to ride out the destruction of Earth by being up there?

Because that'd short circuit the story, obviously...but still...I can imagine the discussion when they got back.

GL: Wait, why didn't you come back to see if any of us had survived on the Satellite?
B: Never thought of it.
WW: How did you explain you two being alive to the crew again?
S: We said we were on the Satellite.
GA: Sssh. Sssh. Don't tell them. I want to see how long it takes Mr World's Greatest Detective, and Monsieur Super-Intellect to work with one out.

...we had Claremont/Cockrum on Uncanny X-men, Steve Gerber/Gene Colan on Howard the Duck, Claremont/Byrne on Iron Fist, Mantlo/Byrne on The Champions; Jack Kirby, Roy Thomas, Jim Shooter, John and George Perez were in play. With one or two very notable exceptions, DC and "Socially Relevant" didn't really ever go together very well back then. Oh, Bronze Age....
