Hello fellow S_D'ers! How are thee today? It is I, Lucrezia Borgia. I give you a few scans from Uncanny X-Force #6

I love Brian's o_0 face in the last panel. Also, what the heck is with the character designs in the second panel? Her nose, good god, the nose.

Oh my god, these facial expressions are priceless. I'm betting someone is going to icon them, lol.

DUN DUN DUN! It was all a not-technically-fake Danger Room setup! What do you guys think about Betsy and Warren rekindling their relationship? I suppose it's okay, if anything to erase what was left of the godawful Neal Shaara relationship...

I didn't like this idea when Jem used a holographic simulation to see how her boyfriend Rio (Who she knew had issues with being lied to) would react to her telling him she'd been playing him for a fool as two different people for months, and then (when the simulation told her to bog off) continuing the charade.

I didn't like it when Gwen Cooper used a mindwiping drug on her fiance (a decent, honest man) when she admitted to having had an affair with a co-worker in Torchwood, so she could console herself that she HAD told him, even if he would never remember his vehemently negative reaction to it.

I still don't like it here.

I don't see how those situations really compare, though.

With Jem and Gwen, it seems like they're telling their partners something they have a right to know, but that they themselves have consealed for whatever reason, and that their confessions are done for selfish reasons.

Here, Brian isn't in the need to know, and Betsy's using the danger room to express her fears and sort out her emotions before she undertakes highly dangerous missions of a questionable nature. She's doing it for her health while being mindful of security concerns, not scam emotional support.

Never was interested in Torchwood..but reading that and more of what you said below put the nail in the coffin for me. I'll stick with Doctor Who..although Amy annoys me half the damn time and really don't like how she pines for the Doctor when she has a fiance, now husband.

Reg Barclay does it a time or two, but he has holo-addiction and social interaction issues at the time. He expresses himself in a holo-environment much better than in the real world, most of the time.

Similarly, Seven of Nine creates a version of the Voyager for herself, which is identical to the real one, but one where she opens up emotionally, socialises and is generally more human than Borg (She also engages in a romantic relationship with holo-Chakotay, which at least says her human taste in men tends towards the painfully dull) which she will not allow herself to be with real people at the time.

Not being too familiar with X-Men, I thought it was kind of a cool setup showing a very psychologically damaged woman. I thought the, "Just tell me you understand" was her sort of controlling the simulation, providing her with some forgiveness she'll never really get. But I get the feeling that the X-Men's Danger Room probably doesn't work in the way I'm thinking.

On a total other note, whose crotch is Nightcrawler inspecting in that last panel?

I'd assume the Danger Room would have files on not only the powers of several known mutants/superhumans but also their personalities (so the simulations could act like the real ones would act). So it could be that Holo!Brian is acting as close to how Real!Brian would act (based on computer models), and that she was not in control of his reactions.

I'd also say icon_uk's points on the matter are all quite good.

Why exactly did Betsy join X-force? I don't remember her being that hip with the killing before, though I missed a large chunk of her history. (Big period after the body swap.)

I'm cool with her and Warren starting up again. The two of them have a lot in common and his relationship with Paige was weird. It didn't do any favors to either of them characterization-wise, though Paige really got the shaft there.

But I guess Betsy can't really tell Brian since she's in X-Force, they can't tell anyone.

As for Betsy and Warren, I don't know I haven't read stuff about them since I was a kid and I just remember really liking that couple so I am looking back with rose colored glasses. Was it good? I like to think it was.

And here I was thinking 'why is Brian in his old uniform?'.

The Danger Room thing is a bit of a cliché, but I like Betsy, I like Brian and I like Warren (and I especially like Betsy and Warren together). Her dismissal of Fantomex is nice as well, considering his actions, but still not very team player-y.

This is the X-men. How many of them HAVEN'T died once or twice? Wolverine's got a frequent flyer card; half of the X-men died on national TV. Betsy has been resurrected multiple times, it's true....but it should also be noted that they've saved mankind and/or mutantkind multiple times because of that dream. Not to mention the universe several times, for that matter.

But I guess Marvel has decided that Xavier's original dream has to be looked on as foolish and naive, now.
