I was wondering if anyone's seen the fun little internet joke Thor and Loki put out in Journey Into Mystery #622. From the CBR Preview.






I haven't been following but I gather Loki died and came back a kid (which is really actually nice since Thor treats him affectionately, head pats and all) but is there anything I need to know? Like, where/why they found him de-aged, and does he remember everything or only certain things?

I love that Thor is so affectionate now that Loki's a kid. I wish Loki would at least TRY to be good for his sake.

Recent events...

In the grips of a mish-mosh of nostalgia, lonliness and grief Thor apparently resurrected Loki the same way he had done with all Asgardians post-Ragnarok; by flying very high into the sky and thundering "COME FORTH!" as a nice SFX display filled the panel.

He then went on to Paris where he found an alive and seemingly amnesiac Loki going under the name Serrure ("Lock"), de-aged and hustling pedestrians with card tricks. After being chased and confronted by Thor he revealed that he was plagued by dreams of the horrible things he had done in his past lives and that he was terrified of regaining his memories in the event that they drove him to become that person again. Thor handwaved all of this and brought him back to Asgard anyway.

I've kept several things in mind during all of this. One is that Loki was shown just before Siege to make a deal with Hela to have himself stricken from the books of Hel, so that when he died nobody had any clue where it was that his spirit had gone. It's possible that he never died at all, and so Thor didn't actually resurrect him (some fans have expressed the understanding that with the Odinforce stripped from him Thor didn't have the power to resurrect anyone anymore, anyway).

Also, Loki is a shapechanger. It was one of the first skills he ever learned as a sorcerer. He may not have been de-aged at all, and this new form may have been a decision on his own part (conscious or otherwise). I wouldn't be surprised at all if this entire plotline with Loki was all a crafty illusion on his part, either as part of some master plan to bring teh evulz or as a genuine attempt to put his dark days behind him and to earn himself a fresh start with his brother.

I am all aboard for Gillen's Journey into Mystery starring this Loki, either way...

OH! I remember that issue, but I wasn't aware the card trick child was Loki.

I saw it in CBR previews. What was the title? Was it the same book?

Anyway, I wish this would stick. I know by now not to hope too hard but I like this Loki.

Now that Amadeus Cho has graduated from Hercules' sidekick, maybe he could take young Loki under his wing. That is a comic I would read.

But I know that Marvel will probably make him full grown and evil again soon enough

I know a lot of folks think Loki is just going to go back to being evil, but I really think Marvel and Gillen are shooting for Chaotic Neutral from now on. After all, this whole Loki thing is a permanent change in the series.

Will also mention this is a new, permanent series with Loki. Which is a pretty good indicator that Loki isn't going to be terribly evil now that Thor smashed up the Norn's fate-weaving and gave TWSA a whooping.

At this point, I believe it's fair to say Loki is evolving into a Tragic Villain. It doesn't really matter if he tries to be good or not. He's still doomed by his Fate: that of becoming the Bringer of Ragnarok, who's schemes will bring about the end of Asgard and the doom of the Aesir. It may be his fate, whether or not he rejects it or embraces it.

Hold on, you've got a world where mutants and aliens and robots and who knows what else are all over the news every damn day, almost every city has at least one extra-normal person who lives there, where it's gotta have been all over the news that a city full of Gods is living on Earth. So why would anyone blink an eye that this chap on Facebook claims to be a God? Nine times out of ten, they probably are!

I *really* like this. I adore the stories where Thor and Loki get along, and kid!Loki here is adorable.

But I have no clue what Journey Into Mystery is. And it says it's issue #622, too.

Could anybody explain what the book is about? Also, is kid!Loki going to be in the Thor book too?

Well my personal hypothosis is that Fem!Loki had basicly won and was ruling Asgard through Balder. Yet Loki ended up hateing it and him/herself and wanted a way out. He was literally sick of being evil but didn't know how to stop. He spotted Herc and kid!Zues haveing thier Thor cosplay adventure and felt sad and nostalgic. So he devised a plan to regain his innocence,force Thor to move Asgard, give his daughter Hela a relm for the dead and eiliminate Norman Osborn's dark reign.

Siege.

The only scene missing from the story is Loki going to Hades(he can't go to Hel so he arranged with Pluto to go there) And drinking from the river Lethe. Eliminating his memories and turning him back into a child just like Zues.

Dear lord, I want to take kid!Loki and just be like "Ok, this is what slang on the internet means. Oh, and this guy's an idiot. Pay it no mind". Then I want to take him to go get frozen yogurt.

He's a god of trickery and mischief, but so is Puck and he's never associated with real evil! Stop making Loki out to be always in it for the evil! Just make him a lovable snarky pain-in-the-ass! I want kid!Loki to last and be awesome!
