Spearheaded by Adam Glass, writer/producer on Supernatural, this year's Justice League of America 80 Page Giant is the story of 18 superheroes being transported to Hell as depicted in Dante's Inferno.

Green Arrow and Ragman find themselves in the Fifth Circle (Anger), where the magic of the environment makes them very, er, angry with each other.

Superman and Red Tornado appear in the First Circle (Limbo).

And Fire and Lobo find themselves in the Fourth Circle (Greed). (And yes, they do mention the detail that the latter is supposed to have been banned from Hell.)

Huh. The art's weird, but I kinda like it. Seems weird that Ragman is in the angry circle, as he never really struck me as the Wrathful type.

I wonder if the butt-trumpet demons are going to show up. They had a scene in the Inferno, but they never really appear in any adaptions of the poem. Of course, a lot of other bits get cut too...

Why is one of the trees from the Wood of Suicides (Seventh Circle) in the Fifth Circle?

Lobo's only in the fourth circle? That doesn't seem right somehow. (The dolphin bit's amusing, though.)

Also, I thought Limbo was only supposed to be depressing because of the absence of God, so I'm not sure what's going on with Supes there. I...guess it wasn't dramatic enough otherwise?

Could someone post an explanation of the whole Lobo liking dolphins thing? I have seen it referenced on several occasions but have no clue where it originated.

Wow... Ollie manages to be annoyingly sanctimonious even in HELL!? That's actually almost impressive.

Superman will never be able to truly embrace an almighty being more powerful than he.... Really? Superman being an atheist is one thing (Ma and Pa Kent always struck me as God fearin' church-going folks but would let Clark make his own choices), but THAT'S supposed to be his reasoning? Given the number of people he knows who ARE more powerful than he is I really can't see that being a problem for him?

The Fire and Lobo story also re-mentioned Fire's old blazingfire site. Which to my sadness still doesn't exist.

Wow, the evil vision of Lois is looking quite fashionable there.

Also, it's quite nice to see Bea kicking some ass.

So I read this... it comes down to a random collection of heroes go to hell, shit happens, we learn strong women who can fly are hot for Batmen and Bruce tricks the devil.

Now that sounds cool but it isn't... it just isn't.

For once, ONCE, can we please have exploration of Hell based on Dante's Inferno written by somebody who has ACTUALLY READ DANTE'S INFERNO.

Or at least be ORIGINAL with your depiction of Hell.

Question: where did Diana end up? It would be interesting to see how in the world any member of any circle of Hell could say that she's some great sinner that deserves to be in Hell.

You know, when I read the title, 'JLA Goes to Hell', I had to double check to art to make sure it wasn't, in fact, a commentary of the most recent runs of the JLA.

I was very happy with Donna and Bulletteer /Alix in this story. Donna was back to being sweet dorky "I TRY TO REACH OUT TO YOU" self (not consumed by anger and...swearing) and Alix was like "Wow you are cheesy but we have to work together" and I actually really enjoyed the fast team up!!!

But then lol the Kara and Diana thing was just like absolutely the worst ???????

The weird thing is "hearing" Oliver Queen channeling Dean Winchester.

Neither Superman nor Tornado has ever committed any sins? Really? Not even one? REALLY?

Come on now, that's just being silly.
