One page from GL Corps #49.

So in the last chapter of "War of the Green Lantern" The men 2814 utilized the power rings of the now imprisoned Corps leaders. I thought it was fairly stupid, and it would appear Ganthet agrees with me.

When did he do it the first time? And I mean intentionally, not "Parallax was in me" stuff.

Also, badly choosing the rings isn't exactly a "putting all of existence in peril" level blunder.

Well, there was Blackest Night, where he willingly allowed Parallax to posses him again so that he could fight off Black Lantern Spectre.

Yeah, and it worked. And Hal was separated from Parallax with little trouble. Not the mention the whole "extinguishing all life in the universe" thing that was going on, making parallax the minor problem.

True, but still, everyone around Hal at the time pretty much asked, "Are you out of your fucking mind?"

The question is not "Did it work," its just the fact that he did it. He has a habit of taking ridiculous risks, and whether they work or not, theyre still dangerous for everybody involved. And occasionally the universe.

Isn't it though? Ganthet is seriously wounded, and it appears that these four are the only chance of stopping whatever caused it (Im not following this book currently.) So Hal Jordan goes with Fear, which makes sense since the Parallax and which he can manage. He gives Hope, possibly the most important to somebody to someone who is not in any way prepared to use something like it. He gives Compassion to the one of them that is least like the power, and possibly won't be able to use it right either. He gives Red to the one guy who was already a red lantern, and completely lost himself in the middle of a incredibly important event and nearly killed all his friends in the area. And going in to fight a guardian-threatening enemy, this is not a danger to the universe?

Actually, giving Kyle the ring isn't really as bad as the others. He does has a habit of getting handed great power, and it`s always worked out in the past. If he handled getting the last GL ring and being Ion, how much harder could a blue ring possibly be.

I love how they all forgot Blue Lanterns super-charge Green Lantern rings. Brilliant.

They also cancel out yellow, so if used right he could just stop Parallax from mind controlling everyone.

Well did they ever say it was automatic, or is it something the user had to trigger?

In this issue of GLC it looked automatic-- or at least something that happens automatically if the wielder isn't trained.

When Hal and the Lost Lanterns were on Qward, Hal put on a load of Sinestro Corps rings, but he was shite. He attacked Sinestro, and Sinestro just took all the energy released at him and made it all pretty and what not.

So yeah, Hal chose to do it before, and he can release the energy, but he can't harness fear, or whatever the Sinestro Corps does. Because this will all end so well!

Clearly what is needed is for Carol Ferris to show up in a wedding dress saying she's finally ready to settle down. THAT will give Hal a fear spike strong enough to put him in perfect tune with the yellow ring.

Sorry dude, for some weird reason I read your original post as "when was the first time Hal put on a Sinestro Corps ring voluntarily", and then it just snowballed into my continual missing of the point. Apologies for that.
