Four pages from FABLES 104, Chapter 3 of "Super Team"...

The issue opens with Ozma's strike force in action.



Clockwise from the bottom left, we've got Bigby Wolf, Flycatcher in magic armor, Grinder the goblin, Clara the raven and Thumbelina, Ozma, unidentified witch, and Brock Blueheart. And I suppose Pinocchio is kind of, sort of a member as well, though a non-combat one. The unidentified witch is the one with the beauty mark who's appeared in a number of crowd scenes alongside the other witches/warlocks of the Thirteenth Floor. We still don't know her name or what story she's from, but her superhero codename here is "the Green Witch," which I'm guessing is a clue as to her identity.

While this is the roster Ozma settled on, and that is their costumes, this fight itself is actually a scenario in Pinocchio's head, as he imagines ways the attack on Mister Dark could go. The actual confrontation has yet to occur.

Wait... there's something missing: a Badass Normal. Every team needs one. I nominate Cinderella.

Doesn't Pinocchio count in that role? (Okay, he's not exactly a Wayne, a Rogers or a Grayson, but...)

Can any Fable really qualify as a Normal, though? The most popular are practically indestructible and the lesser are functionally immortal.

Well, compared to other Fables on the team, Cindy is a "normal." She has all the resilience of an extremely popular Fable, and that's about it. Everything else is due to decades (centuries, even) of physical conditioning, combat training, and spycraft.

I know Cinderella's mini-series is probably happening at the same time as this, but really: she was a logical choice to have on this team as a "badass normal". Give her a golden gun and you'd be set. I hope that her mini-series will not be continuously used to keep her out of the main series.

Cinderella on this team would be awkward at least since titular leader's Ozma's BFF (in the books at least) is Dorothy Gale.

Flycatcher's armor is looking rather Jack Kirby, there.

The whole SCENE screams "I love you Kirby, thanks for inspiring me to do this as a career and lifestyle!"

And that's by no means a bad thing when done well, and this seems to be IMHO.

I personally love that, out of everything she could be doing with her vast powers, Pinocchio has her shooting laser beams out of her eyes.
