What I don't get is why there's a choice--Batman's hotter, and Zee's a hero, and while John's invitation sounds more inherently fun...every woman (and man) that the dude touches DIES.

As far as I'm concerned, that happens off panel all the time. Partially because Zatanna is majorly into Bats, and partly because she has a nasty feeling that hooking up with John Constantine would be an extremely bad idea.

Paul Dini's Vertigo Zatanna one-shot "Everyday Magic" (which is pretty awesome if you can find it) not only had Zee having sex/relationships with other guys but she pretty much made it clear that she and Constantine were done (even after he scared away/warned away said other guys).


I imagine/hope that would carry over into the DCU Zee where she pretty much would be dismissive of Constantine along the lines of "been there/done that" kinda way.

I am definitely excited, but I've always thought Miss Blue Hair was a little iffy as a wife. As a character, well, sure, she's cool.

Is it bad of me to hope they tackle the thing John had with Zee a time ago? Or does real time make it... well, not have happened?

No real indication that the Vertigo version and the DCU one will be the same version of the character.

It could be like the difference between Punisher Max and the Punisher in the regular Marvel Universe.

srsly. I love John Constantine, and the more love he gets, the better... though I imagine it'll be weird trying to mash him back into the DCU proper. In his exile to Vertigo-land, his world has been gotten more and more separate from DCU-land (though Swampy and the Phantom Stranger still pop up sometimes) and has its own depressing mood and setting.

But I don't care! I wanna see Constantine and Zatanna hanging out again. I am all over this! :D

How old is John Constantine going to be in the DCU? Cos he and Zatanna were about the same age back in the 80s and now he's old enough to be her dad... Oh well, I'm sure magic can explain it!

I think Zatanna has magic anti-aging genes. She's supposed to be the same age as Bruce Wayne (per Dini making her his childhood friend) so that would make her pushing 40 at least and yet....she looks much MUCH younger. Not to mention the fact that her father was supposedly pals with Thomas and Martha Wayne AND worked with the JSA in the 1940s (and seemingly never aged either).

In the Vertigo comics he's nearly sixty and he ages inn realtime like Frank Castle does in Punisher Max, but his aging has been messed up slightly by him being injected with demon blood towards the beginning of his series.

Chances are they'll just make him in his thirties like Zatanna or something for his new DCU appearances.
