Carnage #4

So last issue revealed that good ol' Cletus survived being torn in half by that asshat Sentry after all with the symbiote going to sleep and preserving him. He's found by Michael Hall, a rival to Tony Stark, who separates the symbiote from Cletus (giving him some prosthetic limbs) and manages to use the symbiote's properties for his own inventory.

Of course, this works out as well as you think it would, with the symbiote returning to its former host. And then...this happens.









So basically Carnage is using their corpses/armor as one giant Megazord. Heh, how I missed you, 90s.

Also, this artist is PERFECT for drawing the symbiotes. I loved him when he did Venom VS Carnage and I love him here. Sometimes normal people look a bit odd but he gets everything else perfect.

Clayton Crain really is the best at drawing them. He just makes them so creepy and scary and they actually look alien.

I'm vaguely reminded of how there's been some speculation about Venom: bonding with Eddie Brock drove the symbiote insane, and Eddie was also driven over the edge. Neither Eddie nor the symbiote were homicidal until they merged.


Cletus Kassidy was already crazy, or at least a nihilistic anarchist who murdered people for his own amusement. Getting a symbiote bonded to him did nothing to improve his outlook.

I miss Toxin. I thought it was a cool idea to have a cop with a symbiote and I liked how the both of them kind of bickered back and forth about things. It was like a hilariously awkward odd couple or something.

I love how Cletus had the exact same reaction I had to finding out that this guy was putting parts of Carnage into armor. Which was basically, "Holy crap, that is such a stupid idea".

I cannot possibly figure out what is going on in half the panels but the whole thing is so creepy that it actually contributes to the effect.

I agree, this comic is really very nineties. Something about the art.
