Four pages from Thor: Whosoever Wields This Hammer. Most of the book is the reprinting of several old Thor stories with new colors, but it also gives us the framing device of Volstagg being put in charge of his unruly offspring under the threat of no nookie.

And it has Hildy, who as you all know, I adore.

Sadly, no sign of Kevin and Mick, but we can't have everything.

In a sense, he's already been an adult, do we add that age? Hildy's been in comics since what, the 80's? But they she didn't exist briefly, does that reset? What's an apparent age of 12-13 mean to gods anyway, in Midgar terms?

Well, Loki doesn't have access to his powers or memories from that time. I don't think we should add that age. I consider K-Loki a reboot or new incarnation.

Midgard terms? Toughie cuz Asgardians are so long lived. I think they're like Elves. Relatively standard-timed childhoods and they have long adulthoods.

And I have no idea when they start getting elderly. Since the Golden Apples are in the mix, is it a choice? Are Aesir like Thor and Balder different from rank and file Asgardians? Something to ponder.

It's more confusing. I'm looking at the future covers, like #625: http://i.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/mg/c/40/4da76acea5590/detail.jpg

Is Loki getting an age-up? He's hitting teenage-Loki age abnormally fast...

I remember Hildy as being one of three girls Volstagg has, plus his two sons, plus the two kids he adopted from Midgard (who ought to be considerably more mature by this time, barring some Asgardian magiscience). She ought to be decades older...but then, so should all the other characters I knew as a child.

Just keep saying to yourself: "It's on Comics Time, pay no attention."

They were slowly getting the boys used to golden apples back in the Simonson days, so one assumes they've already got extended lifetimes, although probably not as much as their adopted siblings.

Since those Midgard kids weren't Gods, would they be brought back after Ragnarock killed everybody in Asgard?

Loki (frost giant) and Hogun (not an Aesir) were brought back, but they were still supernatural creatures. Humans are not.

I hope feeding the kids golden apples was enough...
