Oh I've ficced in my time... I can be a right randy little ficcer when the mood takes me. I did write something vaguely akin to a sex scene in one, but not really, as it featured the Corinthian and a victim, so the usual rules did not apply and I wanted to go and shower with a brillo pad and bleach to get rid of the absolute unpleasantness I could feel the scene generating whenever I wrote. I was pleased that people's reaction to it was horror and disgust (but for the scene, not the writing), because that's what I was aiming for, but it freaked me out I actually COULD write something like that and I don't think I want to do that again.

I do approve of your footnote idea, and of course, with Dick's social network being interplanetary in scale. there are a near infinite number of pairings and combinations it would work with without the reader feeling any sort of disconnect! :)
