Cass and Tim Having A Civil Discussion
May. 25th, 2011 11:04 pmSince the dreaded Robin: Wanted storyline is being posted at the moment, I thought that I'd post the last time that Cass Cain and Tim Drake spoke to each other prior to Infinite Crisis, OYL etc.
It takes place in the immediate aftermath of the Penguin, who was attempting to set up shop in Bludhaven to take over the void left by the death of the Nightwing villain Blockbuster, forcing Batgirl and Robin to fight for the amusement of an assembled group of local gangsters. The reason for him leaving Gotham is due to... errr... Black Mask over the city due to the whole War Games debacle.
Anyways, in order to throw off the betting in the fight, Tim shot Cass through the shoulder, and now he's having the courtesy of stitching the resulting bulletwound closed again.

And that's the last thing they say to each other until returned as a mouthy crazy woman with a magic flintlock pistol (it fires twice without reloading = it's magic, and possibly now owned by a behatted comicbook reviewer).
Personally I have the theory that the reason why Tim and Cass were moved to Bludhaven by the editorial was partially due to them thinking, "Hey, Black Mask is control of Gotham now right? Well he's already in a feud with Catwoman, and soon to be in one with the returned Jason Todd. Having him be King of Gotham whilst his most prominent victim's super-intelligent crimefighting boyfriend and her ex-assassin best friend are also knocking about with serious grudges would be stretching crediblity somewhat."

Date: 2011-05-25 11:18 pm (UTC)The Penguin fight in particular was an arc so painful it hurt to read. Penguin has Robin and Batgirl captive, wrapped in about ten miles of duct tape and his great idea "Let's untie them so they can fight each other to amuse us, that can't POSSIBLY backfire, now can it?"
