We honor their passing....

MASSIVE SPOILERS for Onslaught Unleashed #4 and Fear Itself #3

With my previous post about Onslaught Unleashed #4, I can only upload one more image. At piece with who she is and what she has become, Nomad makes the big sacrifice to stop Onslaught being remerging from her.



Her kindred spirit from another universe, James Buchanan, the current Captain America, holds the line at Washington D.C. against Skaldi and her Nazi mecha forces in Fear Itself #3.






Both characters rose above their sidekicks role to Steve and became their own fleshed-out individuals, able to step out on their own and lead through example. And I for one, am grateful to have been able to be introduced to them.

On a completely random note, do the Marvel staff KNOW who Skadi is in Norse mythology or did they simply borrow her name for this concept?

They know, but just like Thor and Odin they changed Skadi to match their story needs.

Marvel plays around with Mythology a lot so whatever you knew about said character in said mythology just drop it out a window.

I figured that out from day one. Doesn't change the fact that I was hoping with all my little tiny Norse dork heart that they actually made Skadi act like Skadi.

In my head canon Skadi WAS the mythological version, and the reason Odin is freaking out all over the place when he's calmly faced down things like the Celestials and Surtur before is because he's worried what everyone will think when they find out his ski bunny ex-wife is now a wrinkly old dude.

I thought Skadi was Njord's wife? And she picked him because she thought he was Balder because he had pretty feet.
