I'd have thought that with all the rape, maimings and squashed children that DC's been dark for some time now.

Demon Knights

"Set in the Middle Ages, the Demon leads an unlikely team to defend civilization and preserve the last vestiges of Camelot against the tide of history. Critically-acclaimed writer Paul Cornell and artists Diogenes Neves and Oclair Albert combine sorcery, swords and superheroes in DEMON KNIGHTS #1."

Although I know that this one has been mentioned elsewhere, but I am legitimately interested in this one, because I'm both a fan of Cornell's writing and I like period-set horror and science fiction.

And secondly, the I, Vampire reboot,

"Vampires threaten to bring ruin to the DC Universe in I, VAMPIRE #1 by rising star Josh Fialkov and artist Andrea Sorrentino. Tortured by his centuries-old love for the Queen of the Damnned, Andrew Bennett must save humanity from the violent uprising of his fellow vampires, even if it means exterminating his own kind."

Awww, Andy! You've been Cullened!

For an example of how I'm used to seeing the character, here is where he met Dr Thirteen and Traci, where he gives a lowdown of his backstory and acts as a parody of the silly Anne Rice kind of vampires that preceded the Twilight silly vampires.

From Tales of the Unexpected 2,
The Doctor and Traci were investigating a plane that crashed in the French Alps as a favour to Dr Thirteen's old college buddy, the President of France. Then... the unexpected happens in the form of the duo being attacked by a yeti... a yeti that turns out to be a centuries old British vampire instead, who was wearing a yeti outfit for some reason. Nevertheless, the vampire took them to a cave and built them a fire, 'cause he's a nice undead abomination as it turns out.

For those who wondered in the Flashpoint scans of Traci and her Dad, this is pretty much how he acts all the time.

I love Azzarello's take on Dr 13. It's not even the moderate denial/unable to believe his eyes attitude of Morrison's version, it's just sheer idiocy and ridiculous denial in the face of the obvious.

This is true!

Are those from Flashpoint? Because they're making me miss the event on which i had absolutely no interest in.

These are from Doctor 13: Architecture and Morality, which was a back up story in Tales of the Unexpected, but ended up becoming the more popular feature. You can get the trade on amazon.

Doctor 13 and Traci 13 do feature in 'The World of Flashpoint', however, although the series doesn't seem to be entirely about them.

So two architects leave and the other two go "Fuck this shit man." and rebuild everything anyways.

Yup, that was in "The Books of Magic" IIRC, and I really liked that idea.

It's an awesome idea. The guy is such a hardcore skeptic that magic doesn't work on him.

Or, conversely, because magic and other supernatural phenomena don't work around him, he is seriously skeptical about their existence due to lack of first-hand evidence. Either works, to me. Although your version sort of sounds cooler.

It's not an original idea. Supposed psychics have blamed the "Skeptic Effect" for their powers not working when subjected to actual testing.
