"DC goes Dark" Apparently

scans_dailyI'd have thought that with all the rape, maimings and squashed children that DC's been dark for some time now.
Demon Knights

Although I know that this one has been mentioned elsewhere, but I am legitimately interested in this one, because I'm both a fan of Cornell's writing and I like period-set horror and science fiction.
And secondly, the I, Vampire reboot,
"Vampires threaten to bring ruin to the DC Universe in I, VAMPIRE #1 by rising star Josh Fialkov and artist Andrea Sorrentino. Tortured by his centuries-old love for the Queen of the Damnned, Andrew Bennett must save humanity from the violent uprising of his fellow vampires, even if it means exterminating his own kind."

For an example of how I'm used to seeing the character, here is where he met Dr Thirteen and Traci, where he gives a lowdown of his backstory and acts as a parody of the silly Anne Rice kind of vampires that preceded the Twilight silly vampires.
From Tales of the Unexpected 2,
The Doctor and Traci were investigating a plane that crashed in the French Alps as a favour to Dr Thirteen's old college buddy, the President of France. Then... the unexpected happens in the form of the duo being attacked by a yeti... a yeti that turns out to be a centuries old British vampire instead, who was wearing a yeti outfit for some reason. Nevertheless, the vampire took them to a cave and built them a fire, 'cause he's a nice undead abomination as it turns out.
For those who wondered in the Flashpoint scans of Traci and her Dad, this is pretty much how he acts all the time.
