The thing about tv-adaption comics is that a lot of the time, I have to read it and then re-play it in my head with the actors doing it all properly to get anything out of it.

This is one of those times. It's not bad art, it's just wrong art.

Agreed. It's not photo-realistic art (thankfully!), but I can totally tell that's Matt Smith by the shape of his head.

I think that the energy gotten across by this art doesn't match the feeling of watching an episode of this cast's Doctor Who.

I think it might be the colouring, largely. It's so drab-toned, whereas the show is shiny-shiny warm colours, and the atmosphere of the scene - the Doctor playing football with Vikings for a lady's honour, that's daft even if it is tense as well - isn't reflected in the muddiness either.

The art mostly looks like the actors, line-wise, but there isn't the movement in it that they have in the show, either. "An awful lot of running", and all that, but also the fact that this bunch are quite twitchy actors? The large relatively time-lapses between panels here gives the impression of physical calmness, despite the football action-poses.

The penciller's got a pretty good grasp on the Doctor and Rory (and those fucking gilets he wears), and Amy's not wildly off-model. There's nice perspective and camera positioning, there's a lot of good stuff in it. It just doesn't feel like a smooth read, because the physical atmosphere's off. IMO.

I think my favorite schtick from Eleven is the "It's an [X]. I wear an [X] now." With the optional reminder that "[X]s are cool."

I am really going to miss the Ponds and the Many Deaths of Rory Williams when they take their leave of the TARDIS.

And Rory kicks ass - moreso now than last season, but even then I loved him.
