To be honest I have NO idea what version we're on by now... Let's say "N", when N is an integer which is probably still in single digits.

Seven heroes from the 31st century have traveled back to the present day. Their mission: Save their future from total annihilation. When the future tech they brought with them fails, they find themselves trapped in a nightmarish world and an ultimate struggle to survive. LEGION LOST #1 will be written by Fabian Nicieza and illustrated by Pete Woods, fresh off an acclaimed run of Action Comics.

Sigh... Time Lost Legionnaires, how novel, and nothing at all like the long arc of the Legion members being stranded in the present we saw in the 1990's

In the 31st century, the Legion of Superheroes is reeling from the loss of seven of their finest — and trying desperately to keep their youngest recruits alive against a series of terrible new threats. LEGION OF SUPERHEROES #1 will be written by fan-favorite Legion writer Paul Levitz and illustrated by Francis Portela.

This one is "one of the books you'll see the least amount of change taking place," says DiDio. Aside from the subtracted characters in Legion Lost of course

I can't help but wonder if the "nightmarish world" is the present day DCU (which, hey, way to describe your new world, DC) or the altered future they were trying to prevent. Like, they fail in the present day, get snapped back, and everything is different. You know, like Eureka.

Not trying to defend the idea, just curious which bad idea it is.

"Their mission: Save their future from total annihilation."

Well, Nicieza managed to pull off something similar in Cable and Deadpool, at least.

Although most of Cable's efforts to prevent everybody from repeating the mistakes of (his) past were just vehicles used to propel us towards the next heartwarming/heartbreaking moment between him and Wade.

...not that I'm complaining.

And Gates was one of those stranded in the present in the other story, as well.

I don't even know why I bother trying to keep up with the Legion anymore. Every time I finally think I'm on track, a reboot.

Well, maybe *this* time Sunboy will stay powered and alive... (Doubtful, I know, but I keep dreaming)

It's said in the actual article that this is the book that is going to be the least affected by the DCNu.

But hey is that a boob window on the girl who looks like a bumble bee?

That would be Dawnstar, created to show a deep appreciation and respect for Native American culture.

...which was twenty years ago and most fans today have never heard of. I'm pretty sure that there's a statue of limitations on story-lines, and this whole thing is geared to new readers anyway.

True, though it was 15 years ago, lasted over a year and a half across two titles, and thus not only a part of the 90's that so seems to prevalent in the DCNu, but probably the longest single arc the Legion has ever been involved in, so it seems an odd one to stress as their exciting new direction.

I wonder if that has anything to do with Levitz himself - and the respect/pull he still has within the company (a sign of which is that he didn't get pulled off the book he was originally on to go to some other book like some other writers) - he usually plans things out at least a year in advance so I can't see him staying through for yet another LSH reboot.

On the plus side... the art isn't bad, and at least they aren't sending the same group "back to the present" that was just there a year's worth of stories ago.

Hang on now. Wildfire, Dawny and TWolf all went back to the present in the Lightning Saga. Tellus went BTTP in the New Krypton story. That just leaves Tyroc and Chameleon Girl, and Gates who's a vet of that other Legion Lost story.

Taking the Legion out of the future makes them boring. In the present, they're just another super team. In the future, they're a fucking thousand fucking years in the future, living in an interstellar community of hundreds of different races, cultures and creeds, with technology and ideas that surpasses even out wildest dreams. Go explore that instead. That would be interesting, novel and fascinating as opposed to fighting the bloody Dominators for the 11th-billion time or worse yet, comment on ugh... current social issues from the perspective of an advanced society in some sort of bizarro post-colonialism.

Please, I'm begging you, don't call it the DCNu. It's a term that, as far as I can tell, was coined by Newsarama, whose reporters are using it in every single article about the reboot. I rolled my eyes when I first saw it, and since then, to my horror, it's starting to catch on. We have to make sure that does not happen. If you love puns and just can't help yourself, at least spell it DCNew. Just... not DCNu.

Thanks to the Adventure Comics preview they never paid off, I have an inordinate desire for Legion Lost to somehow in someway feature Morgan Edge and Despero shaking hands.

It doesn't even have to be related to anything going on, I'll take it.

(I just want to know what kind of deal they're making; I'll even take GBS establishing a 24-hour Kalanorian executions channel.)
