One thing that caught my eye in the Marvel solicits for September was New Avengers Annual #1 (really? #1. Are you sure? or is every New Avengers Annual marked as New Avengers Annual #1?)
From the creative team of SECRET WAR! Simon Williams doesn't think the Avengers are helping the world and is willing to do whatever is needed to stop them. Including bringing in his own NEW team...THE REVENGERS! One of the biggest throwdowns in Avenger's history starts HERE!

I do like the idea of Simon believing that the Avengers don't do that much useful, though it's difficult to agree with him.

Still, here he is not-quite joining the team in House of M and definitely joining in Mighty Chovengers

I wholeheartedly agree with Simon that the Avengers are useless douchebags, but what does he see them doing that he needs to assemble a team to stop them from doing it? I'd think they need a HR team more than a nemesis squad.

.......The idea of Wonder Man leading the charge for a proactive team of Avengers is kinda hilarious. He's always struck me as one of the more reluctant heroes in the MU, not a bad guy just kind of there....

So, I guess Kang, Thanos, the Skrulls, and the Worthy would have all stopped themselves? Or in the absence of the Avengers, the Fantastic Four/Future Foundation or the X-Men would have taken up the slack?

Here's a selection from NEW AVENGERS #51, when Simon said he was through with the Avengers, as they were confusing justice with violence and thus not doing any good.
(That was also the problem with CRY FOR JUSTICE, but that's another topic.)
