But aside from that, is this book printed in Awesome?

Loki is LOL-worthy, Thor is off to space to whup Galactus and Volstagg is marching off to wage war on the "Tiny Men of Broxton"!

I'm honestly stunned at how much better this is than Fraction's arc on the old title.

Even the return of Odin, which I thought was kind of unnecessary, has been used to good effect so far.

I believe he's trying to cut off all her hair, which is one of Loki's most famous pranks in mythology.

I know Loki is alll little now but has Sif forgotten how (during the JMS run) he was basically going around in her body doing all sorts of nasty things (just to get back at Thor) while her soul was trapped in the body of an old sick woman? Didn't she swear vengeance on him for that.

I wonder if Loki just did this out of pure mischief (like in the myth) or if there really is another motive besides it?

From some of the stories I've read he cuts Sif's because she spurned him and choose Thor over him and in others because he's jealous of her being with his brother.

I'm guessing Fraction's intent is just pure mischief coupled by the fact that Loki doesn't feel much respect for anyone in Asgard besides Thor.
