Avengers: Children's Crusade #6 preview

Anyone still remember this?
Newsarama has the preview of Children's Crusage #6, as another group of superpowered youth muck around trying to rescue the Scarlet Witch.

It does lead to interesting reunions.





The art is still beautiful, but I really can't believe how casual everyone is when at any moment Wanda can bring back Avenger's Dissassembled fallout or have another "No More Mutants" moment.

Probably repeating a sentiment that's already been expressed many times, but whilst this is lovely, and the dialogue is fun (and rather touching), it has taken SO LONG to be released that it's losing a lot of the impact it might have had.

I recently read Heinberg's collected WW run "Who is Wonder Woman" and all that and actually found it unexpectedly enjoyable. BUT if I had been a Wonder Woman waiting and waiting with all the delays when it originally came out I would probably have given up on the story entirely. That's the feeling I'm getting here - I had already forgotten Children's Crusade was still going on.

Exactly. It's a great read but It takes so long between issues that people have stopped caring or have forgotten all about it.

I'm worried that by the time this mini finally ends, there just won't be enough readers left to support an ongoing book. There are just so many other teen team books about Avengers in training nowadays.

The Initiative, the Secret Warriors, the Young Allies, Avengers Academy, and that upcoming team in Fear Itself Homefront (Arana, X-23, Powerman III, Thunderstrike II, and Amadeus Cho).

Just keep reminding yourself of how long it took us just to get Heinberg penning this series. Hell, I didn't believe it was actually happening until I had a physical copy of the first issue in my hands.

I'm just worried because of the dozens of other teen heroes running around, there are just so many of them and at this point some of them like the Avengers Academy have had longer ongoing books and more consistent characterization and character development than the Young Avengers.

The Young Avengers are becoming less and less relevant. And sooner or later they'll go the way of the New Warriors or the New X-men or Generation X. Forgotten, killed off, replaced by the next generation before they ever really have a chance.

Yeah, from what I'm seeing, these are some good stories, and greatly developed characters...but not so much that that most are willing to wait several months for it. The YA would probably do a lot better to have a different creative team that can actually do a monthly schedule.

I use to love this series but that was...what... like last year?? I don't even remember. For a series that is suppose to bring the Scarlet Witch (my fav. character) back to the MU, they are taking their sweet ass time. I'm not gonna bother with it anymore.

I said it over in the YA comm and I'll say it again here -- Billy, Wanda's husband is not even slightly back. If you died and someone told Teddy "Your boyfriend is alive. Sort of." and pointed at Tommy, he would probably smack them and would be right to do so. Quit that!

...On the upside, Teddy's line about how Billy lost his powers "the last time he did something I told him not to" is hilarious!

This means at some point Doom was sitting there in his lab going testing and retesting to see if ia Doombot vagina felt like a real vagina.

It seems like everyone treats Vision #2 as a straight up replacement for #1. Although, I suppose it would be less traumatic than telling Wanda "Oh, and there's a kid running around that looks like the ex-husband you brutally murdered but is actually his posthumous offspring with a teenage supervillain."

Yeah, that explanation might need some careful rephrasing. But she had to have known that her family tree would get complicated when she married a synthetic guy...
