I saw this over on Comics Alliance this morning and thought the perfect thing if you cats and kittens wanted a nice little cry at your computers today. The news that Bruce would be resuming the mantle of the Bat with Damian as Robin hit me a little hard. The work done to make the Dick and Damian dynamic duo work is impressive but Bruce, despite having raised three boys now, didn't seem to know how to handle his own son who wanted to be Robin.

I was so incredibly disappointed when I learned that Dick and Damian would no longer be a team. I felt that Damian was becoming much more "humanized" under Dick's wing. :(

Damian is my favorite character and I hope he continues to display growth in the DCnU.

Although, I must say, Damien strikes me as the type to have prefect penmanship and spelling - and he certainly wouldn't write with a crayon...

Only one nitpick, but I think that Damien's penmanship would be a lot nicer cause of his education and training. I also imagine him writing on really ostentatious stationary that has his full name printed on top with extraneous titles and watermarks.

He's trying to win Grayson over, and he knows the best way to do that is an emotional appeal, however underhanded and obvious it might be. He's probably be using the puppy eyes approach if he thought it would help.

Not sure "ill-bred" is a term I'd ever use about another poster (it's a rather personal insult in the contexts I'm familiar with), but whitesycamore has a well known... let's say "lack of affection", for Mr Grayson.

I can't understand it myself, but I respect her right to hold such views, and it can make for some sprightly discussions.

I was just being faintly satirical, since people often say that *Dick* manages to make Damian more likeable, whereas I'm at least as ambivalent about Dick as I am Damian. Generally though, I like both of them when they're working together.

It's weird, but the bat-boys tend to leave me cold. I vastly prefer the girls (and Jason, who I count as an honorary girl).

Those are quite adorable I must say and it coincides with my thought that Dick should either remain Batman or at least remain partnered with Damian. Of all people, Dick has been the most patient and good for Damian. Damian can have good character development from having a role model like Dick. Partner him with Bruce and honestly..even with Bruce being less of a batdick, I can't help but seeing the relationship as a business one rather than father-son and that just wouldn't be good nor healthy. I want to see Bruce and Damian grow as father and son before becoming a team. Otherwise, Damian is better off with Dick.

This is one of those fan-things that make no sense in canon whatsoever, and therefore my suspension of disbelief is too broken for me to even enjoy them.

(Also the author is kind of a jerk, I liked them a lot more BEFORE I read the rest of her tumblr)

It just seems like the author has a poor grasp of Damian's character.

I mean, maybe if it was just the short words, but the lined paper, crayons, misspellings, and scribbled out stuff, none of that is Damian in even the slightest. He's too proud.

Even I love the Bat boys, I don't know why fandom just swoons, gushes and falls over them so much more than the girls (I mean as a whole of course, considering all the fanart and fics, etc).

And, as I've noted in the past, is correct to do so. The butler and housekeeper in a household always known by their surnames (Junior servants adding in Mr/Mrs/Miss as appropriate). Only more junior servants were known by their first names.

Well they are both cromulent spellings, although I'm not sure which is the most common. The kid from The Omen is called 'Damien' though, so I get why people might default to it when they're talking about Bruce's Satan-spawn.
