You know that episode of The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog where Sonic and co. develop a de-Roboticizer that frees everybody's loved ones and Sonic gets his uncle back, only for the process to revert at the end because that would be too easy?  This issue is like that.  Four scans from Avengers: The Children's Crusade #6.


So last issue (and that was a while ago), the Young Avengers found the Scarlet Witch, who was going to marry Doctor Doom; now she has her memories back, and the YA plus Clint, Beast, Jessica Jones, and a revived Scott Lang look on.  Meanwhile, the Avengers still want to find/possibly kill Wanda.

Anyway, Billy snaps her out of her madness (which proves surprisingly easy), and they set about figuring out whether she can reverse the damage that she caused.  So they pay a visit to X-Factor in search of depowered mutants to experiment on.  Multiple Man doesn't think this is a good idea, but Rictor volunteers anyway:





The X-Men (Cyclops, Emma Frost, Rogue, Storm, Colossus, Gambit, and Iceman) arrive outside.  Strong Guy doesn't think they look welcoming.

I need to buy it right freaking now! It looks so awesome from what you posted! All Wanda has to do is bring back DJ and the other kids from Academy X that got blown up and it will officially become the book that made all of my wildest Marvel fantasies come!

Which is selling in the low 20Ks right now, I think. Fittingly, I think it's the fact that the last two young mutant teams were treated as entirely disposable that's lead a lot of readers to give the newest next-generation the skip.

I am ALL FOR THIS. After all, when M-Day was written, were Weir and DePfilipis (sp) consulted, as someone kvetched about above-thread?

I remember reading a forum log with the original writers and the impression I got was that they were told after handing in the House of M script for the Academy X kids who was being depowered. They were quite unimpressed, as they would have kept Sofia Mantega powered and depowered Santo, among other changes.

There were also a few veiled comments about how the editors were playing favourites as to which characters would remain powered depending on the writers.

I wish that it hadn't disappeared from the internet; it had some really interesting stuff about the direction they wanted to take the Academy X kids in.

M-Day was when Nunzio and Christina were sacked from the book, IIRC, so I doubt they had much input as to what happened after.

I do recall an interview where Kyle and Yost said they were given the choice of whether to kill the depowered kids or just ship them out of the book, and they chose to kill them off.
