Four pages from BATMAN INCORPORATED 7...

That night, Raven finally has enough and calls it quits.

A closer look at that sign, for the`curious:

By the time the two reach Man-of-Bats, he's been stabbed, but he's still alive.

As it turns out, Raven was wearing the bulletproof "ghost shirt" underneath, so he's fine, and Man-of-Bats survives, too.

And it works--back in The Black Glove, Bruce genuinely had a lot of respect for most of the Club of Heroes, even if he abandoned the meetings early on, and some of them, like Gladiator, became a bit corrupt.

In a way, Morrison retooled a lot of the Club to represent aspects of Bruce's own personality - Centurion as the swashbuckling romantic, Gaucho as the death-defying Zorroesque adventurer.

Man-of-Bats is both a representation of Batman as a father - it's perhaps significant that this comes out right after the Reboot announcement that Dick will return as Nightwing - and also of Bruce's own father, Thomas Wayne, who was also a Doctor trying desperately to make a difference.

Yeah, I thought Bill and Raven's relationship was a lot like Bruce and Dick's when he was Raven's age, but I didn't think of the Bill/Thomas comparison. Nice one, man. :D
