Current music:Battle of Pelennor Fields - LORT TROTK
Entry tags:char: hellboy, creator: duncan feqredo, creator: mike mignola
ComicBookResources has the preview for Hellboy - The Fury #2.

Damn, I just love how they are raising the stakes and the tension in the book with such great art.

Que up your LOTR - TROTK soundtrack, ye mortals, to the Battle of Pelennor Fields.

"Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden!
Fell deeds awake: fire and slaughter!
spear shall be shaken, shield be splintered,
a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises!
Ride now, ride now! Ride for ruin, and the world's ending!"

Where's Death's pale horsey then? It's not "The Three Horsemen and One Pedestrian of the Apocalypse" you know. Binky would never leave his master to walk like that.

Things are going to get Biblical from this moment onwards.

I loved the design they had for War. He does remind me of Snake Eyes from G. I. Joe but in an evil manner. It was a cool detail to have him wear a emotionless mask because it symbolizes how War affects everybody.

Oh, Art, always ready to come back in England's greatest need. Pity it took the apocalypse to wake you instead of the coalition government, but I'm not complaining. :)

That's Galahad, I think. Or Gawain.

I think MisterBug is correct on his/her statement, EspanolBot. I recall on Le Morte d'Arthur one scene where King Arthur is telling Bedivere that he would return in the moment that England had a Gigantic Crisis so he could save his beloved country once more. That's why King Arthur would be known as the "Once and Future King".

They're already taking liberties by using Pestilence so I guess a horse doesn't matter.

But is it only King Arthur who would come fight? And only for England?

After all, in all countries all over the world, there are numerous legendary characters and "kings" who would be glad to help assist to stop the Apocalypse. So I have problems thinking that in a world where Hellboy and the paranormal are very real, there wouldn't be a bunch of other figures from legends past that wouldn't say "Screw the Apocalypse!" and join in on the beat-down side by side with Arthur.

Well, Conquest was a little bit close to War, though the same could be said of Pestilence and Famine.

Or we could go the Good Omens route and replace Pestilence with Pollution.

Meanwhile, in India, China, and assorted other countries with other cultures/religions

Shiva: "Did you hear? England's facing apocalypse. Again."

Vishnu: "They always do this! Every other century, it's the apocalypse, omgawds!"

Brahma: "Remember how the Norse had ragnarok overy other week? And how did they die? Assimilation and lack of expansion that's what!"

Guan yin: "Why are they all so negative anyway? Always with the end of the world and bringing about devil baby heralds of doom."

Buddha: "I blame the Mayans."

Please note, didn't mean to offend, if it is, I'll remove it, or mods can immediately censor it. In any case, just want to point out, I kinda would like if all the world's cultures/religions, especially the older ones', apocalypse stories were taken into account for once. In Hellboy, it's even hown that Japanese demons are real. So for something like biblical apocalypse, would be nice to see other major deities actually reacting if only because their apocalypse isn't happening yet, and damn if The Four Horsemen think they are getting anything in India or China. I know it's established tht Hellboy has some prophecy in Africa too, or possibly their reincarnated heroic demigod, according to that one story.

Lol I wrote my post below before reading yours. I have the exact same sentiment! I mean heck, thr actual number of India's pantheon would prolly outnumber the hell army alone!

To be fair though, the current battleground is England so it's still not an international war. The moment the hell army reaches other shores, the other deities should get in on it.

I for one, would love to see an air-to-ground Buddha Palm missile hitting!

Perhaps all the other gods proper can see the future (assuming hellboy comes out on top, and that is what they see) and so know that they can sit back and continue to be mysterious and all, and let king arthur mop up his own country's witches and their summons.

Anyway, horse or not, I really like the Death panel. Great impact.

If the other Gods of the world are just sitting around letting HB handle this problem, they need to get off their collective heinies and go and sort shit out in America, given the, ah, Lovecraftian-Dragon problem.

Pestilence is a well established substitute--more popular than conquest, even.
