Dark Knight Rises Trailer Leaked
Jul. 13th, 2011 11:57 amLooks like we get spoiled with a (shaky) first look at Dark Knight Rises courtesy of a person's camera. Mostly old footage, but with a particular scene involving Commissioner Gordon.

EDIT: The original vid was blocked by WB, but we put up a new one of the same trailer on a different player right below it. Chec it out before it gets taken down too! (or our site gets blocked altogether!)

Date: 2011-07-13 04:18 pm (UTC)Apparently the "bat" has been missing for some time... Gordon thinks they NEED a Bat.... Barbara should be in her teens by now (Gordon has a daighter and they have been VERY secretive about who she is and how old she is...) What if after Gordon is hurt (probably b y Bane) Barbara takes up the empty mantle...
okay i KNOW this is far fetched, but is not unplausable. Nolan is being very secretive about alot. also wouldn't it be an interesting twist that Gordon is in chair instead of Barbara?
here;s another idea... Batman has lost faith after the death of Rachel, and loss of Harvey... Catwoman kinda brings him back, reignites his passion for life?

Date: 2011-07-13 05:08 pm (UTC)But I agree that Bane will probably break Jim's back instead of Bruce's since he's on hiatus from being Batman.
And I hope that Catwoman's role in the story is also as you described; she reminds him that Gotham needs a Batman to stop letting the world create more people like them.

Date: 2011-07-13 05:25 pm (UTC)Hell, since this is being advertised as Nolan's last Bat-hurrah, they'll go the whole hog and have Bruce take the Gordon kids to the circus to cheer them up, only to see the Dick's parents killed. Then when Bruce tries to take Babs and Dick to his car, they find Jason trying to steal the hubcaps but he runs off. As Bruce runs after Jason while carrying Dick and Babs under his arms, he trips and falls over a homeless girl named Cassandra.

Date: 2011-07-13 08:25 pm (UTC)Considering how Bane was introduced in "Knightfall" and how that was a storyline in which Batman was broken both physically and psychologically, I'm thinking that's exactly what's going to happen to Bruce early on in the film. Like you said, we know that at the beginning of this film, Bruce has lost the love of his life, the man who he hoped would have been a better savior for Gotham than himself would-up going crazy and is now dead, and he allowed himself to be framed as a cop-killer and thus has no police or public support. So if Bane comes along and beats the crap out of him, essentially taking over Gotham, in Bruce may feel he's at his darkest point and quits, believing he's done far more harm than good and that Gotham doesn't need him anymore. Thus he goes on a kind of "walkabout" and recuperation to heal his injuries, echoing his journey in Batman Begins
And while he's gone, Bane essentially rules Gotham's underworld with an iron fist and everything goes to hell, even worse than it was before Batman. Maybe that's where Catwoman comes in, in that she is someone who was inspired by Batman to try and fill the void, only as a female Robin Hood figure in that she robs the criminals to give to the poor and destitute, but is not exactly as effective a symbol as Batman was. Gordon gets hospitalized after he and his cops try to tangle with Bane and that's when Bruce returns, physically healed, but doubting if he can ever be Batman again, when he gets his pep talk from Gordon. Yes, I also think that the teaser suggests that Gordon has figured out Bruce is Batman, as well.

Date: 2011-07-13 09:05 pm (UTC)Personally I like the idea that Selina's from the area of MovieGotham called the Narrows, which is both where Arkham is located and was the area primarily attacked by Ra's al Ghul in the first movie, and the suplimentary material for the Dark Knight said that it was left for WEEKS without the police coming to clear up the people dosed with fear toxin and the escape Arkham inmates.
The general shoddiness of Gotham City prior to Batman's appearance and the events of the League of Shadow's attack would cause anyone to get a sense of resistance to those in charge, I'd thought. Be they the cops, Batman or criminals.

Date: 2011-07-14 06:51 am (UTC)Following the villain themes, there was fear, then anarchy, and then...hell, I dunno, overkill?
The League's normal mode of attack is to go to town and annihilate everything in the city that's crime related. This longer term attack on Gotham was done by "economics" according to Ducard, and with that going tits-up, a return to the slash and burn could certainly do it. There's enough trouble left in the Barrens, League supporters worldwide, and organized crime to handle what's needed. They do reach far.
Just pitching thoughts here, but to me? Bane as Ra's is almost dead on. Maybe with Talia as a deep cover against Bruce Wayne or he's her Dragon all along. Cotilliard could play the Big Bad nicely. (yes I'm troping.)
