So, they've released some some more images from the forthcoming Spider-Man movie reboot... so what do you think?

Starting with his home life... (That's Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben, and Sally Field as Aunt May as well as Andrew Garfield as Peter)

"Oh, hi Uncle Ben, Aunt May, can't talk... eating. Rewriting your own entire genetic code is hungry work you know."

A couple of glamour shots of the costume...

Not enough to make me reconsider my affection for a certain other posterior, but MY that's a NICE Spider-ass

And this I assume is his wrestling pre-costume costume otherwise it's urban rapper-Spidey... (Which I'm sure there MUST have been released as an action figure at some point)

Hmmm, yes, alas, when I see pics like this, I can easily believe that Andrew Garifeld is 28 rather than 16... But since he is VERY pretty it just makes me feel better that he is very, VERY legal for a bit of lusting after.

Okay, I like shots like this...

I also like that the webshooters look like something that he sort of made out of an old digital watch or two...

Rhys Ifans as Dr Connors.

A little UST for Peter and Flash... KISS HIM YOU FOOL!

Something something, Peter grabbing his balls, something something... fill in the blanks as you see fit

Dennis Leary as Captain Stacy

And for legality, the cover to the Lizard's first ever appearance, in Amazing Spider-Man #6

Is Rhys Ifans going to act with one hand behind his back? That's how it looks when he's crawling in the water

I like the new costume, and I love those new webshooters.
I'm sure Sally Field will win me with her charm, but I cannot imagine her as Aunt May.

I have the problem that Sally Field has never once managed to charm me in her movies or on TV, she always seems to have a brittle, hysterical edge that turns me right off her characters.

Personally I thought Rosemary Harris was one of the highpoints of the previous movie series.

ah, so they're going with mechanical rather than organic web shooters. wonder if they'll be Peter's original design like in 616 or work started by his dad like in Ultimate. regardless, I like how they appear to be repurposed bits of junk.

I am not sold on the costume, but I did love Andrew Garfield in his other stuff- I have a feeling I'm going to love his Peter Parker, but I'm not sure about Spidey yet. It very much depends on how much snark he's going to have which Tobey lacked a little. For a costume I thought Raimi's one worked so well, that deviating too much is just a little unnecessary. Though it looks a lot, lot nicer in that pic with Gwen.

And Rhys Ifans is a legend... I think I feel like watching Notting Hill now.

Hmmm.

HMMMM.

I have mixed feelings, here. For one, I dislike that they feel the need to do an origin movie AGAIN, especially so soon after the last one. I like the costume, the actor looks OK and the choice of the Lizard is fine, though I assume we'll get another 'villain is somehow tied to hero's origin in a way he never was in the comics' deal.

Martin Sheen and Sally Field strike me as stunt-casting more than legitimate choices. Yes, they're great actors. But I don't know if they're right for these parts. Dennis Leary as Captain Stacy? Sure, why not?

I guess I'm getting 'origin' fatigue, mostly. I think most audiences know all they need to know to enjoy Spidey and don't need a rehash. It just seems a waste of perfectly good screen-time at this point. But at least this looks decent.

For characters as iconic as Spider-Man, I see no reason why they should waste time with another origin movie. People know Spider-Man's origin. People who have never read a comic book know it. Just jump in and give us a fun movie instead of wasting 30-45 minutes retelling the origin story yet again.

That costume...ARGHGLGHARGHL

The see-through eyes! The bizzarely skeletal crotch-arrow Spider! The meaningless twisty-ice-cream lines! The COLLAR! The damnable BASKETBALL head!

Oh, but I do not like the look of this. Only a properly alligator and/or komodo dragon-like Lizard could persuade me differently.

I'm liking what I see. Emma Stone looks like she stepped right out of the comic. They even have her eye liner right.

And I'm a fan of the Garfield casting. His arms and legs are spindly like a geek, his looks aren't breathtaking but very charming and puppy-dog like. I could totally see myself having a crush on this guy. And the costume really doesn't look that much different from a typical spidey costume. He fits the physical bill a lot more than Tobey did.

My only semi-complaint would be about his hair. It's too trendy of a 'do and might date the movie horribly in years to come. They should've given him more of a timeless cut instead of this Cullen-coif.

I like the shots of Garfield doing action Spider-stuff, but he just looks way, way too old to me, even for Hollywood teen standards. Science teacher adult Peter, maybe, but not origin story Peter. And that texturised costume is just not working for me at all.

I love Martin Sheen enough that I can overlook the stunt casting, and he even looks kind of right for Ben in that second picture, but Sally Field is a weird choice. We can't cast a white/silver-haired woman for May? Really? And I'm not sure she fits the character persona-wise, either. On the other hand, I do applaud their casting for Gwen Stacy. I don't know the actress, but the look is perfect.

I'd prefer a short-haired film-Aunt May. S'how I know her best, but also because BOTH versions having long hair when she so often has short.. it makes me suspect motives, which is unfun.

Same here! A good movie's a good movie. Shouldn't matter where it is in relativity to other films. The only Raimi one I kinda liked was #1. I never understood the mass appeal of #2, which I thought was cornball trash.

As for the costume complaints, I remember how much outrage there was over Bale's Batman duds, and look how those movies turned out.

This looks... less than impressive.

Don't like the costume, don't like the fact that they're making him a high school student again, don't like the fact that they're redoing his origin, even though the last origin movie is less than a decade old. And I never liked The Lizard as a villain.

Emma Stone looks good though.

Holy crap, Emma Stone looks EXACTLY like Gwen Stacy. This has to be the most comics-look/movie-look accurate casting ever. It feels like she's the comic come to life.

I hate the costume. It looks way too complicated and complex.

Garfield is better, his lankiness fits with Peter better. But, something about the guy makes me want to punch him in his pretty face, and considering I already want to do that with Spidey half of the time his casting isn't looking too good.

I honestly can't buy either Andrew Garfield or Emma Stone as high school students, but I do really like both of them. I'm conflicted. I guess it'll come down to the script; if the story's any good I'm sure it'll be a fun film.

Though, honestly, I'll probably go see it just to stare at Andrew Garfield in skin-tight spandex for an hour or two.
