Annnnnd...I think I'll let the fail speak for itself here.  Other than to say maybe those "Superman hooks up with Wonder Woman" rumors may essentially be rooted in a "brooding and loner" Clark (ugh!) getting back at the, once again, all-too clueless Lois for "rejecting" him when she decided to shack up with an all-too obvious douchebag...who, of course, she'll end up dumping in less than a year. Way to alienate your readers and Superman fans alike here, DC.

Wanted to post this, but just read it and I have to say this is WORSE than BND. i know, it's hard to believe, but this is just... awful.

I like how Lois is kinda portrayed as kindof a bitch here too, really classy DC. Honestly, this reboot makes me want to cry blood

I may be missing a ton of subtext, but what about this makes Lois seem "kind of a bitch"? Clark has shown up unannounced when she has her boyfriend around, she introduces him, it's amicable and Clark leaves because he's a third wheel. We also find out that Lois has tried to find Clark a date in the past, but there's never been anything between them.

They all appear to be acting like reasonable, amicable adults to me.

On the plus side, we don't have a Lois and Clark who have dated and it didn't work out, or nearly got married, but didn't.

They've never dated at all, and so the field is clear for the future.

I'm not sure I'm interested, but strictly speaking for myself, I'm not outraged by this.

Well used kindo as a term, she just seemed rather un Lois like, which seems relevant to the current DCNU. By a bitch, i meant kinda dismissive, then the conversation Clark heard, seemed rather catty and mean spirited between her and her bf. Which, because i am a fan of Clark and Lois, seems really screwed up. You are correct tho Icon, my wording was rather harsh

To be blunt, of course she ruddy doesn't want him around, she's in bed with her boyfriend! Would YOU want a work colleague (even one you thought was a nice guy) barging in unannounced at a time like that?

So can someone explain this DC reboot? Is it basically a straight up reimagining or is it picking up from one specific point in continuity? Does this affect the entire universe or are some titles still following the original continuity?

I swear, in the last scan where he's walking into the elevator all dejected, I can just hear the sad music they used to play on the Incredible Hulk tv show. lol.

After watching bad sitcoms for several decades, I can say with confidence that this is a set-up for Clark and Lois to eventually get together. Giveaway 1: She's chatting with him at the door when she has someone waiting for her in bed and she make no attempt to end the conversation with Clark. Giveaway 2: "Maybe you should find someone to celebrate with as well. You deserve it." Giveaway 3: "Maybe he's pining for you." "Oh, shut up and get back in bed." These aren't the most subtle of hints.

The subtext I got was that Clark matters to Lois and Jonathon is a boy-toy. I'm not sure how I feel about a Lois Lane who has boy-toys, though.

I agree, that's pretty the only real comforting thing about this scene. After all, the traditional Clark/Lois/Superman set-up is that Clark pines for Lois but she only sees him as a colleague and a friend while she is head-over-heels in love with Superman. The problem I have, however, is that this scene really has echoes of Superman Returns going on, only without Lois having a kid and a different boyfriend. Which only emphasizes Clark being the angst-ridden loner--which, in my opinion, is how Superman shouldn't act at all--and Lois, despite being supposedly an excellent investigative reporter, being utterly clueless. But yeah, as my emotion icon says, I'm more annoyed than outraged about it.

For a second there reading the first scan I thought that the black guy might be Lois' new beau, to which I thought "hey that might be kind of interesting, forced but hey"

Theeennnn I realized it was a blond Aryan asshole that was shirtless and had the most "I WILL EVENTUALLY BE EVIL" grin I've ever seen.

It all just rubs the wrong way i suppose. Its not the new boyfriend thats an issue, it creates a more realistic reboot, cant have them out the gate together right? But to introduce them as they're getting freaky, then mock clark, while he slunks away.... very wrong and weird.

Though I will agree with fred, thats probably how this will end.

Clark being a loner might be a way to go, since it would reduce the number of "Oh darn, another date ruined because of Metallo/Toyman/Brainiac attacking" moments, which got old REALLY fast back in the Pre-Crisis era.

Clark being a little moody I can take, as long as Superman isn't.

From these pages I couldn't get anything more from Jonathan than that he's "a guy", though one that Lois has, at a guess, known for a while since she'd discussed Clark with him already.
