Green Goblin performs on David Letterman

This is a little old (a week or so) but I haven't seen it here...the Green Goblin from Spider-Man musical performed his number with some friends on the David Letterman show.

There are no words for what I'm feeling right now.

I actually have a video of this song done with clips from the movies in my favorites, I haven't heard the other songs from this musical, but this one is really good.

I have a copy, you're right, it's not too bad, though I suspect this is perhaps the only one you'd come out humming (Well, maybe this and "Rise above")

Is it disgust? Giant ass budget, and THESE are the best costume designs they can come up with? Seriously, it looks like a kids cartoon, and not the good kids cartoons, but the ones that are nothing but bright colors and weird lines....

Ugh, seriously, ugh. A high school production could do a better job. Hell! I think you could do a better job with store bought halloween costumes.

When I was watching the show, I have to admit, it was this number that made me sit up and take notice. If the musical had managed to keep up the level of silly energy that the Goblin produced every time he was on stage for the whole show, instead of stopping to sing for twenty minutes at a time about their feelings, the show would have been a lot more enjoyable. Still stupid, but enjoyable stupid. If you know what I mean.

No I know what you mean. I watch a lot of B movies and things of dubious quality - as long as its enjoyable in some fashion I'll tolerate a lot.

I'm kinda sad to hear the rest of the show isnt as fun as this number. They should just cut Peter and give the show to this guy. He is enthusiastically owning this shit.

The guy who plays Peter is actually really talented. The writing is just really fond of getting boring. It's really weird. When the show remembers that it's based on a comic book, it's actually really fun. The flying, the fight scenes, the Daily Bugle silliness, etc. (Seriously, the flying is AMAZING.) But it gets really bogged down every time the show starts to take itself too seriously. It kind of flew between extremes. Like, one minute it'd be really wacky, like the old 60's show--and then boom! You're stuck in Spider-Man 3 and none of them will shut up about how awful their lives are! And believe me, they will let you know through no less than three unmemorable songs that they are unhappy.

Yes, a zippier number for Spider-Man, outlining how much he just enjoys the freedom of being Spider-Man as opposed to Peter Parker would have been good.

Reeve Carney?!?

Are you talking about Reeve Carney? Agree with you 100% on that! Thought he absloutely nailed the role...in a way that Tobey MacGuire never ever even came close to. (Having said that, even the understudy guy who plays parker in the matinee shows on broadway was much better than Macguire!)

But Reeve was absolutely amazing. He was every bit as charming and funny as pete/spidey should be, and played the action beats with all the speed, agility and grace needed so that it made it very easy to suspend belief that it was always him in the suit. (Though to be fair, he actually does do alot of the stunts, swinging and wire-work, often whilst singing as well!)

And I thought he had really good chemistry with the actress who played Mary Jane. I can see why some talkshows/gossip trades have speculated that there might be more than just acting going on between them. They were great together!

It's the same problem that Batman 1989 had. The hero is played as a brood, tortured and narratively speaking, intensely DULL person with an actor who seems almost uniquely unsuited to the role (yes, I appreciate that calling Keaton (an uncharismatic shortarse IMHO) a bad Batman may be a minority opinion, I don't care), whereas the villain gets all the best lines, is much more energetic and is played with hammish relish by Nicholson (Who actualy manages to overact outrageously AND give an almost understatedly malevolent performance AT THE SAME TIME!) Keaton didn't have a hope.

I love this guy. I hope this actor becomes, at the very least, the next Tim Curry. Seriously, can't you see this guy rocking out to "Sweet Transvestite"?

Oh, and if you think those costumes are bad, you should see what they did to the guy who wrestles Peter in his origin story. Seriously, there are no words.

This, Pull the Trigger, and DIY world are the three songs I listen to every single day because damn, those songs are just too lovely.

Watching that performance made me realize how incredibly bad the musical is in terms of stagecraft, but their spectacle is intense and it's so feel good that it just makes me want to watch it more. Seriously, EVERYONE IN THE AUDIENCE was into it, and I was smiling all throughout.

Don't let this put you off man. If you're still as big a fan of Pete and MJ being together, then you NEED to see the revamped version of this show. As some of the changes to it lately, have ramped up the romantic elements, and boy does that work..

The main guy that plays Peter (Reeve Carney) has amazing chemistry with Jennifer Damiano (MJ) And they both nail the roles much much better than MacGuire and Dunst ever did. To me they'll always be the definitive Pete and MJ.

In fact even if the new reboot film series gets a sequel and an MJ, as much as I like Garfield, I don't think they'll be able to create as good a romantic chemistry as the performers in the musical have in abundance..

The scene at the end where he's web swinging with her in his arms right over the heads of the audience is just magical man. You really should try and catch it before they end up recasting it!

Oh, I'm not saying it's bad, I actually like the music and the Goblin's performance. I just was a little weirded out at how bizarre it was.

If it comes to the area I live in maybe I'll give it a shot.

What they'd really need to do is somehow team up with Cirque du Soleil. Get the rigging and aerials right, fix up the costumes a bit, and maybe as crazy as it would still be, play it in Las Vegas.

But I'd go see it, even as it is now.
