Superman's other pal, Doomsday

Doomsday clones have been unleashed upon to Earth, each intent on bringing about doomsday in its own way. One's targeting a nuclear silo in Russia, another a fault line in Hawaii... and a third has set its eyes on a virus lab.



Meanwhile, at S.T.A.R. Labs, Superman and some scientists are analyzing an unconscious Doomsday, looking for clues, when it starts to wake up.



Superman goes after the culprit behind it all, the Doomslayer. The character has a kind of interesting backstory, or at least seems to based on what we can piece together from the hints. He's a Doomsday from millions of years in the future, possessed of intelligence but also a deep, overwhelming self-hatred at being a murderous engine of destruction. He's decided to go back in time and remove from the universe the blight that is himself, totally and thoroughly. And since Earth has the knowledge of how to clone Doomsday, that means one of his objectives is to destroy the planet, before that knowledge can spread to the stars.

Yea, that's kinda a weak team to take on a Doomsday. Zatanna, Sentinel, and Fate, sure, but what's Ravager going to do?

There were different teams for each dooms day, this is ust the first team they showed helping SB in hawaii(ironic they did not reference how hawaii basically use to be SBs turf) that might also explain the two titans there.

After this team was done they linked up with the other teams, and we got a good shot of Dick and Bruce running next to each other Batman Inc style.

Didn't they already do a good doomsday story, where Doomsday developed sentience and over the course of a few issues (and crushing some innocent people), decided to follow in Supes footsteps in an alternate future?

That bats in the picture is bruce, Dick was with another squad that linked up. Also Rose needs more exposure then just slades daughter who hits on every guy in titans tower imo, if only she inherent ed her dads powers of always being in multiple titles a month.

One thing that bugs me nowadays is how folks tend to forget Doomsday has superspeed as well. It was even said that when Superman and Doomsday first fought a bunch of it happened at super speed.

With the American flag I was kind of expecting the Supermen of America of the Freedom Fighters.

I know it's a comic, so "Hey kids... SCIENCE!" and I may have been watching too much Moffatt Doctor Who, but if future Doomsday wants to get rid of his own history and the fact that Earth managed to clone him is a problem, wouldn't it be better to, I dunno, move back a couple of years further before he ARRIVED on Earth and the whole mess started?

I'm not sure he has control over that. Also, if he's a Doomsday clone and not the original, which can't be ruled out, it might be necessary to avoid a grandfather paradox. Like I said, his background has only really been hinted at, not actually revealed, so there are still a lot of question marks.

Cheesy? Contrived? Yes, but I can think of worse ways to end Post-Crisis Superman's career.

I like this story, it's been fun, and that's something Supes has kind of been missing lately.
