The DCU Blog (before it becomes DnU) has the preview for the 80's retroactive story as the Reaper character comes back.

And a plea for those of you who surf the net about other things Batman.

1. The preview:

I liked this villainm, the Reaper. Why haven't we seen his/her return in the past decade or so? And I miss this art style on the Bat.

2. The Dark Knight Rises movie.

Pittsburgh seems to be a spoilers paradise, as pics are coming in from the set, as well as startling revelations that may spoil the movie.

No, really, if you know your Batman lore, you hear one sentence and you can guess how the rest of the story plays out. So for the love of your fellow fans who WANT to enjoy being surprised, be patient. Many who aren't fans will miss it, many who understand it while know why it was handled so.

But if it IS true, keep it mum. Me, I just want to see how it plays out because this sounds good.

I've been trying hard to avoid spoilers for the movie as well.

I'm actually surprised that allegedly major spoilers are coming out so fast, and that they shot said scenes in extremely open spaces where it could be documented.

Nolan was paranoid android for TDK and had Ledger going between trailers under a tarp and putting fences around shooting locations.

I will second that. I would love to know what sentence is being referred to here.

I clicked on the 'one sentence' to nowhere... oh man! I wanna know!

I knew I was going to have a son by CVS. Surprises are overrated...

The Reaper made an appearance a few years back, while Bruce was dead and Dick was first running around in the cowl. Gonna have to get my trades out and look through it to see exactly what issues.

Wrong Reaper. That character was from a classic Denny O'Neil and Neal Adams story. Entirely different character, separate from the legacy of this Reaper from Year Two and Full Circle.

You mean THIS chap?

I can't imagine bringing him back was a worthwhile idea...

Exactly. To bring that particular character back as an insane zombie killer just... well, it just seems to miss the point of the original story.

That was the exact thought I had when that story started up. But with Year 2 being ret-conned out by Zero Hour (which was still kind of in effect as far as I knew) this was the only course of action if Tony wanted a "Reaper"

It's the standard original Robin costume to my eyes, but some illogical shadowing on the thighs makes it look like he has on a pair of bicycle shorts.

Now in stores! It's "Cross Training Robin!" for all your super hero triathlon needs!

I read that as cross dressing Robin and had stranger than usual images pop in my head.

Why? It's not like it's THAT uncommon a trope, and has a long provenance

The shadow from his torso is being cast across his upper thighs.

The Reaper had a lot of potential as a character, but it doesn't help that Batman: Year Two is a flawed-as-hell story to begin with. By which I mean, the Reaper pretty much kneecaps Bruce's entire narrative arc with Joe Chill, which was pretty much the emotional center of the story for me. I think Mask of the Phantasm did a better job combining the Reaper with the daughter character, Rachel Caspian (whom I've always suspected as being the inspiration for Rachel Dawes, alongside Harvey Dent).

Even still, it's still bizarre to me that Tony Daniel brought back a zombified Reaper, but used the Bronze Age Denny O'Neil version instead, who was only in one story and wasn't on the same threat level as Caspian at all. Makes no sense to me.

The "Batman: Full Circle" Barr/Davis one-shot also returns to the Reaper/Bruce/Chill equation again, set during a time just after Batman has taken on Robin.

I don't think it's a particularly good idea to forbid the discussion of spoilers, we're a comics discussion board after all.

I DO think that spoilers should be flagged as such, and put behind a cut, though.
