As far as I'm concerned, Norman Osborn died in Amazing Spider-Man #122.

Nothing Marvel has published since has convinced me otherwise.

I don't give a fuck about their retcons. It's just getting old. He's not Marvel's Lex Luthor. He's more like Vince McMahon.

And I've got better things to do than read what Marvel considers "edgy" these days. Most of them involve toenails or paint.

Also, I just read Alias the other day. What the HELL happened to Bendis!? How did his writing get so bad/cliche?

Nothing "happened" to him. He's just better suited on some titles than others.

Although I don't get the Bendis Osborn hate. With the exception of 'Pulse', Bendis has had a good handle on the character. On the contrary, I thought the Osborn miniseries series was pretty bland.

I liked Dark Avengers, I loved the miniseries.

Not sure it's the right time for a revisit of it, though; but then again, let's wait & see how it turns out.

I think the timing is interesting, considering they're teasing this at the same time they're promoting Simon Williams' Revengers for the Annual, considering while not identical ideas, there are definite similarities.

I'm curious to see what Osborn's status is going to be. This is the second time that Bendis has had him very publicly go off the deep end and be sent to prison only to get out not long after. Is he out legally and if so, is he still going to be associating with HAMMER now that it's essentially a terrorist organization? To what end are the Dark Avengers being organized? Are they explicitly going after the other two teams or is he going to be presenting them as an independent third(since the Secret Avengers are supposed to be... a secret) force doing things the other two won't for whatever reason?

Well, let's see.

I strongly dislike Norman Osborn because he's dead and I'm sick of Marvel pushing him down our throats. He had his time, it's over, go away, die...again.

I dislike Bendis's writing because IMO I think he's brutally overrated. The only thing he writes well is crime--and really that not so well. Alias worked out only because he was working with a blank slate in Jessica Jones. I think his endings are poor, he writes almost every pre-existing character out of character to suit his plots--to me that's poor writing. Put him on a comic where he gets to write only non-super underworld types and cops--normal, non-super cops--and I think he'd do a good job.

Technically Norman Osborn was already an evil businessman when Lex Luthor was busying being this:

If we got rid of every single comicbook character that has been overexposed and/or has been killed off and brought back to life at one point or another, we'd be left with...well, I was going to say Alfred, but technically he was killed off, revived as a supervillain and then restored back to normal. Norman didn't really get overexposed until Dark Reign.

As for Bendis...his team titles can get stinky, but his solo titles (Spider-Man, Daredevil, Alias, etc) are great. He's not the best thing since sliced bread, and his work has suffered when being stretched too thin, but he's still a more-than-adequate writer. Even if he turned into Jeph Loeb tomorrow, many of his earlier runs would still be regarded highly.

If I recall correctly, Dark Avengers was a consistent top-ten, near 100,000 copies per issue hit. Could that possibly have any tangentially remote relevance?

His recent min(Which was great, btw) set it up nicely. And after Fear Itself, the easily manipulated muggles of the MU now don't trust the Asgardians and are thinking that Osborn was right.

I definitely agree. I just don't think he should be part of a big event. The best way to approach it would be like Warren Ellis's Thunderbolts where Norman has his own piece of the pie but he's not running the world.

Well, after Fear Itself, the general population don't trust Asguardians , so they might see the events of FI as proving Osborn right in attacking asgard.

Still, this time it will be mainly in the NA book.
