This is from Amazing Spider-Man #280 and #281, by Tom DeFalco, Ron Frenz, and Brett Breeding.

The bounty hunter Silver Sable wants to hire Spider-Man to help her take down Jack O'Lantern. Spidey refuses at first, but later decides to help her so he can help pay for Flash Thompson's defenses after he was framed by the Hobgoblin.

When the two go to Coney Island, they're attacked by the Sinister Syndicate (Beetle, Hydro-Man, Rhino, Boomerang, and Speed Demon) instead.

And later, during the battle with the Syndicate...

In #281, the Beetle is about to shoot them when...

Silver Sable follows, reasoning that if Spider-Man dies she'll be held responsible and his heirs would sue.

Spidey and Silver Sable fight the others, and in the end the Sinister Syndicate is forced to flee.

Sandman tank? Really?

Also, is this team an iteration of the Sinister Six (I know there's only five members, but I assume Jack O lantern is running this gang since Sable and Spidey are after him, and he probably set this all up.)

Actually it's Beetle's crew. They just do work for hire.

Syndicate even got a mini of their own. Deadly Foes of Spider-Man.

It is..? Oh my god, you've just made my day! I keep meaning to post some Deadly Foes, it's my favourite story from my childhood bar none, and source of my undying love for the Shocker.

I'd wondered how Sandman hooked up with Silver Sable. *nostalgic sigh for Good-ish Guy!Sandman*

DeFalco and Frenz sure could stage some kick ass battle scenes back in the day.

Loved this era of Spiderman. Gets me all nostalgic seeing it now.

Thanks for posting this. It was indeed a great story!

I'm surprised this is Ron Frenz - I read it assuming it was Sal Buscema.
