I just love the Joker's reactions here.

They're fairly-- mild, which seems a bit out of character, but maybe he's having a bad day.

It's Dini, he "get's" the Joker like few others.

The word he used to describe him in an interview early in the BTAS days which convinced me the Joker was in good hands was "mercurial", and bycracky we saw that in spades with his writing and Hamill's performance. (Again, you can HEAR Hamill's voice in the above scenes, which is always a good sign for me)

You commit a crime. Batman beats you up and leaves you for the cops. man screw the bat. your processed. Suddenly the guards drop unconscious. Batman drops from the rafters, kicks the shit out of you again and just vanishes.

Sometimes, you wake up and he's standing in your cell. Staring at you.

By god I would poop my pants and never commit a crime again.

Wasn't there a Black/White story like that? Except, the guy was trying to stay out of trouble and tried to imagine Batman making sure he doesn't commit anymore crimes to motivate himself? I think the last page was Batman checking up on him and checking him off on a list.
This sounds a lot more scary than it actually was.

Yup, from Gotham Kinghts #41, written by Brubaker. It's not exactly that he imagines Batman making sure he doesn't make any more crimes; he's definitely gone honest, but he imagines Batman watching him to judge if he's really changed. Right on the money about the last page.

I thought it was very heartwarming.
