I mean can you think of a better 'scared straight' program?

You commit a crime. Batman beats you up and leaves you for the cops. man screw the bat. your processed. Suddenly the guards drop unconscious. Batman drops from the rafters, kicks the shit out of you again and just vanishes.

Sometimes, you wake up and he's standing in your cell. Staring at you.

By god I would poop my pants and never commit a crime again.

Your in prison therapy. you look out the window. Batman is in the bushes. You scream- he's gone. In the shower- soap drops by your foot. a Shadow. Batman is standing behind you.

Your in the exercise yard. Batman is ontop the guard tower. Watching you.

Wasn't there a Black/White story like that? Except, the guy was trying to stay out of trouble and tried to imagine Batman making sure he doesn't commit anymore crimes to motivate himself? I think the last page was Batman checking up on him and checking him off on a list.
This sounds a lot more scary than it actually was.

Yup, from Gotham Kinghts #41, written by Brubaker. It's not exactly that he imagines Batman making sure he doesn't make any more crimes; he's definitely gone honest, but he imagines Batman watching him to judge if he's really changed. Right on the money about the last page.

I thought it was very heartwarming.
