Emma Frost. In your head.

In the most recent requests post, shadowspykie asked for some kick ass Emma Frost scans. One thing popped into my head.

It's from New Avengers #9. The Void is attacking America. Reed Richards has the machine that they used to banish The Void before and is aided by Emma Frost to help get Robert Reynolds under control.

Reed, Emma and the Sentry convince Robert of the threat that the Void poses and that Robert can help to stop it.

Emma asks that Robert relaxes and allows her into his mind

Here's a beautiful double page spread to start us off.

That Black square hid Mastermind doing something to Sentry. It's barely important, considering how convoluted the Sentry story becomes.

How good is the framing on that last page?

OH DAMN.
That sequence was insanely cool. I like how pragmatic Emma's being here, so used to people's minds now.

Usually I dislike McNiven's art, because I find it too stiff (like action figures being photographed), but I really like this expressions with Sentry during this sequence.

I gotta say, I love the way the wall of memories are depicted, with random pictures that aren't really important but are just snapshots of a life (like the woman on the bed, the dog, the bottle...)

I framing on the last page -is- pretty cool, but I can't get over the impression that it looks a bit like Emma's posing in a shampoo ad.

Emma should hang out in the Sentry's mind all the time. I recall when the... Dodsons? drew her there she looked fantastic too. Her clothes looked like real clothes she was comfortable in, which was awesome.

I recall there were two different art styles, a very painterly one for the real world, and the style in my icon for inside Sentry's head. Bob was also there, looking good. Emma... did something... in Sentry's head and outside, Sentry panicked and ran out on the fight he was in. The Sentry's Wikipedia article suggests it has something to do with the Dark X-Men?

Ahh Sentry, or as I call him, 'Retcon, the character'

PS I don't instantly hate Emma in this, this is unusual.

I favor "Triumph v. 2.0" myself.

Thanks! I dibt think many people give emma thew credit she is due. The stuff she did with the Sentry was always some of my favorite :)

I don't know, she doesn't really do much here, does she?

The best Emma moment is...

When she takes over Iceman's body (Bobby Drake) and shows him what his power could do. That was epic, truly. I think after that incident, Professor X invited her to be a tutor at Xavier Academy.

Yay! Love me some well-written and well-drawn Emma. Except, I can't picture her saying "'kay" instead of "okay". Smallest of gripes, though.

This~. I really like Emma, but it does seem a bit hard to find her written well. But I love this. ♥

I noticed that jarring bit as well. She's more formal than that and I would have written her dialogue as "...concentrate with me, all right?"

It also occurred to me that her dialogue would be fine as is if the scene was done with Jean Grey instead of Emma.

I think there, she was trying to put Bob a little more at ease by relaxing her language a little at first.
