It’s the story you’ve been waiting for! As Barbara Gordon struggles to find her place in the world, Batgirl and Nightwing collide with the unstoppable force of a train wreck! Will it be sparks flying, or fists for this star-crossed duo? Also, the terrifying Mirror ups the ante in his bizarre war on the citizens of Gotham City! Featuring the eye-popping art of rising superstar Ardian Syaf!
This is a story we've been waiting for? I'd have thought an explanation for how she's walkin' would be further up there than her getting into a spat with Dick, but okay.
THE SHADE #2

Written by JAMES ROBINSON
Art by CULLY HAMNER
Cover by TONY HARRIS
1:10 Variant cover by CULLY HAMNER
On sale NOVEMBER 23 • 32 pg, 2 of 12, FC, $2.99 US •
RATED T+
Retailers: This issue will ship with two covers. Please see the order form for more information.
After surviving a brutal attack in Opal City, the Shade must leave his beloved home in search of answers. His first stop is Hamburg, Germany, where the violent, invulnerable private investigator Von Hammer has the first piece of the puzzle. But to reach the detective, the Shade must duel with darkness against French shadow villain Bete Noir. The menace and mystery are just beginning in this second part of the Shade’s global odyssey!
I know that a previous poster has posted this solicit, but I had some things to say about it. For example, it's nice to see that Robinson's work in building up the DCU during his Mon-El comics hasn't gone to waste, with the return of his Von Hammer character, who I am curious about. Bete/Bette Noir I think'll be interesting also, if only for the unintentional amusement from a British semisupervillain and a French supervillain getting into a fight.
SUICIDE SQUAD #3

Written by ADAM GLASS

Cover by RYAN BENJAMIN
On sale NOVEMBER 9 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US
RATED T+
“Abort evac. Suicide Squad...you’re on your own!”
After last issue’s harrowing mission, the covert Squad must “disappear” until Task Force X can safely (and secretly) extract them from the field. Can a team of super villain soldiers maintain a low profile in a small town? Plus, another Squad member bites the dust – and King Shark eats a guy.
Wait, "another" squad member dies?!? Oh no, not Harley!
Since I seem to be running a bit short today, here's a video that can be either cool, funny or mortifying depending on which angle you approach it from.
*Sigh* You just HAD to get the Juggernaut reference in there didn't you?

Apropos of NOTHING else...

Date: 2011-08-16 11:20 pm (UTC)I really wouldn't want to see Barbara take down Dick easily - if she does, it better take a while, and involve some serious strategy. She's always been a good fighter, but Dick's an acrobat who's trained under Batman since he was a kid, and learned from very skilled peers.
I wish people would remember that he's a formidable guy.

Date: 2011-08-16 12:23 pm (UTC)Isn't Bete Noir that shadow-powered gorilla who appeared in the recent Eclipso story in JLA?

Date: 2011-08-16 04:16 pm (UTC)I'm thinking either two things:
1. It's going to be one of those "fights that turns to near sexy times" type of thing.
2. She's projecting, and considering some of their fights in the past, she's been wanting to kick him in the face for a while now.

seems like I'm alone in this one...
